The doctor scratched his head. "Would you believe me if I told you I didn't know how I ended up here either?"
Bingbing had said the same thing before, so I wouldn't doubt him even if he said that.
I nodded. "I believe you. You wouldn't lie to me."
The doctor smiled awkwardly. "You're that sure I wouldn't lie to you?"
"You have no reason to lie to me."
The doctor sighed. "Kid, what am I supposed to say about you? Sometimes, you really shouldn't trust people so easily."
After saying that, he held out a hand for a cigarette. "Tell me, kid, how did you end up here?"
So I gave him a rough account of what had happened. After hearing it, he looked astonished. "Snow Soul Essence? What the hell is that? Hurry, take it out and let me see."
I handed him the two metal fragments I had obtained.
He toyed with them for a while before handing them back. "This thing contains tremendous energy, Jiang Xiaobai. If you really gather all the fragments, the power they give you could nearly rival the Chaos Yin Yang Bead inside you."
My eyes widened. "Really?"
But no matter how I looked at them, I couldn't see how these metal fragments contained the immense power he described.
"Who told you this thing was called Snow Soul Essence?"
The doctor's question stumped me. "If it isn't Snow Soul Essence, then what is it?"
"I don't know what it's called, but I do know it doesn't belong to our world. It should have come from outer space. This kind of metal couldn't possibly exist in our world. Look at the patterns on it again. Don't they resemble some kind of symbol or totem?"
"Really?" I studied it carefully, and it did seem
