I realized I was lost.
After going through so much, I seemed to know even less about what I was doing and what I should be doing.
Before this, I had always wanted to uncover my identity and figure out who I was.
But now that I roughly knew something about my origins, who were my enemies and who were my friends? What was I doing, and what should I be doing? Things that had once seemed so clear had now become blurry.
I had opposed the existence of the Administration Bureau before. I had even been trying to find ways to make it disband, or prevent it from being established in the first place.
But after hearing what Chang Shuai had said, if I were the one in charge of the Administration Bureau, I did not know whether I could do any better than them.
I had been to the apocalypse, and I had seen the Administration Bureau there. At the very least, as Chang Shuai had said, the Administration Bureau had indeed preserved the spark of human civilization and protected some people. Those people could be said to be humanity's hope for rising again.
Were they wrong?
Perhaps they were, but from the bigger picture, that little bit of selfishness really did not seem like much.
"You really don't have to see us as enemies. Really, we never wanted to make so many enemies, because we have a common enemy!"
Hearing that, I could not help glancing at Chang Shuai again.
Chang Shuai looked somewhat solemn. "All this time, you thought this was a war between us, or rather, a struggle. But it isn't. Have you ever considered that the apocalypse was not caused by the Administration Bureau? What exactly caused this apocalypse, and where did it begin?
