Background / History

Jiang Chuyan was the eldest disciple of Little Qiong Peak, where her exceptional cultivation talent had already brought her to the Golden Core Realm at a young age. Despite her precocious ability, she was known for an unusual fixation on romance and matchmaking, often to the exasperation of her more level-headed junior sister Jingyin 22.

Before joining Sword Holding Peak, Chuyan raised a Red Spotted Tiger named Little Red. After discovering evidence that it had been killed, she traced the death to Xiao Ran, who had slain the beast while gathering Black Yeast Mushrooms. She went to Sword Holding Peak intending to confront him 22 23.

Chuyan had long sought to become Lingzhou Yue’s Personal Disciple. She pressed Lingzhou Yue to take responsibility for a past encounter and accept her, using both her talent and the roasted tiger meat as leverage. Lingzhou Yue ultimately reconsidered her resistance, and Chuyan later joined Sword-Wielding Mountain as Xiao Ran’s disciple 26 33.

Personality

Chuyan is persistent, ambitious, and unafraid to act on her attachments. Her initial pursuit of Lingzhou Yue is earnest but often flirtatious and mischievous, while her desire to become a Personal Disciple remains central to her choices 22 26.

She can be naïve and easily embarrassed, particularly around Xiao Ran, but is not thoughtless: she questions his claims, learns skills she initially considers beneath her, and gradually develops greater confidence in her swordsmanship and daily responsibilities 23 45 78.

Life on Sword-Wielding Mountain softens her earlier competitiveness. She grows attached to its simpler routines, becomes more comfortable with Lingzhou Yue, and takes pride in practical work such as cooking, weaving, knitting, and clothing design 51 56 139 141.
