Background / History

Daigo serves as a GUTS operative and pilots the Guts Wing. During Melba's attack, his aircraft crashes into a forest. Rather than dying in the explosion, Daigo becomes a stream of energy and merges with the nearby Tiga Stone Statue, awakening as Ultraman Tiga. 416

Confused by his transformation, Daigo meets Xiao Zhen in a park after receiving a message from him. He asks why he can become Tiga, establishing Xiao Zhen as the one person able to clarify aspects of his new identity. 417

His first battles reveal a severe gap between Tiga's immense power and Daigo's actual combat skill. After being overwhelmed by a Kirieiloid, he humbly asks Xiao Zhen to train him so that he can better protect Earth. 419 420

Personality

Daigo is resolute and duty-driven. Even when facing enemies he believes he cannot defeat, he chooses to act rather than evacuate or abandon others. 492 493

He is compassionate to a fault, believing that aliens should not automatically be treated as enemies and attempting to seek coexistence with the Kirieiloids despite their attacks. 457 His empathy also extends to civilians manipulated by threats such as Kijera, whose influence leaves him distressed and uncertain how humanity can overcome its desires. 476

Though initially overconfident in his human combat ability, Daigo accepts humiliation and repeated defeats as necessary training. After Xiao Yan throws him to the ground, he continues practicing until his fighting ability visibly improves. 420

Gatanothor Crisis

When Gatanothor's black fog overwhelms TPC's sea base, Daigo refuses evacuation and resolves to fight alone. Tiga's attacks fail to overcome the evil god's defense, and he is eventually petrified and destroyed after entrusting humanity's hope to Xiao Zhen. 492 495 496

Keigo Masaki's Return

After Keigo Masaki gains power through Camilla, Daigo worries that he can no longer protect Rena. Given the Bronze Rod by Xiao Zhen, he transforms into Tiga again and decisively defeats Masaki, who escapes under the protection of dark energy. 508 509 510
