"Mm, don't worry."
Chen Feng was at the early Essence Gathering Realm. If he could not even handle a pig, he would be a laughingstock.
Chen Feng nodded, dagger in hand, and cautiously approached the White-armored Pig.
The pig noticed Chen Feng and suddenly turned toward him. Rather than showing any sign of fleeing, its eyes gleamed with cruelty.
White-armored Pigs ate meat. In its eyes, Chen Feng was food.
Roar!
The White-armored Pig charged straight at Chen Feng. Chen Feng was startled. Good heavens, this thing runs so fast?
Its four legs pumped furiously as it rammed toward Chen Feng with two curved tusks. Dagger in hand, this was Chen Feng's first time facing a true ferocious beast, but his skill gave him courage, and he felt no fear.
He was in the Essence Gathering Realm. A ferocious beast at the Qi and Blood stage was child's play to him.
Zhang Yang, Tao Min, Bearded Uncle, and Zhu Tao all watched. They had thought Chen Feng would need several exchanges in his first fight against a ferocious beast, but instead, they saw his body flash as he dodged the White-armored Pig's attack.
He moved with blinding speed. The instant he dodged, his right hand slashed out, driving the dagger in through the White-armored Pig's eye. With a crack, the White-armored Pig fell to the ground and thrashed about, blood pouring out. It soon stopped moving.
Zhang Yang and Tao Min exchanged a look, smiles appearing at the corners of their mouths:
"This little brother knows the eyes are a weak point, but this white pig's eyes are small and blocked by its tusks. With its head swinging around, it's hard to find an opening.
I usually flip the White-armored Pig over and attack its belly. I never expected this little brother to hit its vital point in a single move."
Zhang Yang looked at him approvingly. As expected of a Martial Soul User.
Tao Min smiled. "Chen Feng, judging by your performance, you're already one of the strongest members of our little team."
Tao Min also let out a sigh of relief. Chen Feng might be talented, but real combat depended on actual strength. It was not easy for them to come out here; they were here for wealth. Having one more powerful teammate was good for all of them.
Chen Feng said nothing. He began following the method they had used earlier to butcher the White-armored Pig. These were all common skills he needed to learn.
"Keep those two tusks with you. They're worth quite a bit and aren't heavy."
Tao Min had Zhu Tao put the tusks into a bag. The rest of the corpse was gathered in one spot and marked; they would collect everything when they returned.
"Keep moving!"
The five continued onward.
After gaining experience from his first battle, Chen Feng realized that the school's practical combat tests had been very useful. Without those tests, he could not have dealt with the White-armored Pig so easily.
I hope to hunt a few more times. Only then can my real combat ability truly improve.
Chen Feng's eyes gleamed with fighting spirit. Looking at the ancient trees around him, he did not know when danger might strike, yet he found it increasingly thrilling.
After they had gone another hundred meters, Bearded Uncle fixed his gaze ahead. "See that? There seems to be a gray wolf ahead, feeding."
Up ahead, beneath a towering ancient tree on the muddy ground, a huge wolf covered in gray fur and with savage red eyes was eating a fawn. It tore away chunks of bloody flesh, occasionally glancing from side to side, alert to its surroundings.
There was only one wolf here. Chen Feng was shocked when he saw it.
This wolf was far taller than wolves on Earth. A person standing before it would probably be a weak creature left to its slaughter. Of course, they were martial artists, so they were different, but the sight still shook him.
Wolves were already highly lethal to humans. A gray wolf twice as large was indeed rather terrifying.
"That's a Red-eyed Wolf!"
Bearded Uncle's expression turned serious. "These wolves are pack animals, but this one has clearly been separated from its pack. It's hunting alone here.
Their fur can be made into clothing, the kind worn by wealthy members of the human race. In some shops, a single garment made from Red-eyed Wolf fur can sell for as much as six thousand. The pelt from one wolf can make more than three pieces."
Bearded Uncle explained quietly. They were some distance from the wolf and separated by brush, so speaking softly would not cause any problems.
Chen Feng was surprised to hear that. In that case, this wolf's fur was very valuable.
He stared at the huge wolf in the distance. A wolf like this was no harmless creature. It ate people.
"Captain, I'll go deal with it."
Chen Feng had come to train and to make money. He had to contribute, so he would take this wolf.
"Little brother, I'll work with you. Wolves are far more dangerous than that White-armored Pig. You don't have experience, so I'll go with you!"
Zhang Yang said quietly.
"How should we coordinate?"
Chen Feng asked.
"In a moment, I'll lure the wolf into chasing me. You hide here, and when it pounces, stab it from the side. As long as we work together properly, there won't be much danger!"
Zhang Yang said, staring at the wolf.
"Alright!"
Chen Feng nodded. Bearded Uncle and the others stepped back, while Chen Feng hid in a patch of grass.
Suddenly, Zhang Yang stood up and openly walked toward the wolf that was feeding ahead.
No words were needed. The sound of his approach alone made the Red-eyed Wolf abruptly turn its head. It still held a chunk of bloody meat dripping with blood in its mouth. After chewing for a moment, its gaze remained calm, but a bloodthirsty glint appeared in its eyes.
The wolf noticed Zhang Yang, yet it was not anxious in the slightest. It slowly finished chewing, then suddenly launched an attack and pounced at him.
Its mouthful of sharp teeth opened wide. Moving as fast as a small truck, it shot forward like the wind.
Zhang Yang turned and ran.
After more than ten meters, he reached where Chen Feng was hiding. The moment he passed the spot, the wolf behind him pounced, rushing past the patch of grass where Chen Feng lay concealed.
"Now!"
Zhang Yang shouted. At the same time, Chen Feng burst from the grass with his dagger and drove it into the wolf's neck.
With over a thousand kilograms of force in his arm, the blade plunged through the fur on the side of the wolf's neck. The wolf's entire body shuddered, blood gushing from its throat, but it still lunged at Chen Feng.
Boom!
At that moment, Zhu Wei and Bearded Uncle rushed in from nearby, using a massive bronze shield to knock the wolf flying.
"Finish it off! That wolf isn't dead yet!"
Zhang Yang charged over from a distance and shouted.
A shadow suddenly darted in from behind. A flash of metallic light swept past, and Chen Feng stabbed his dagger into the wolf's neck again. This time, he left it at death's door, and it collapsed to the ground.
"Quick, skin it and leave immediately!"
Captain Bearded Uncle stepped forward and began stripping the hide with his knife. "We caused a disturbance here. If there are packs of wolves nearby, they'll definitely come over. Hurry up!"
