Mu Yu mastered Sun Breathing, defeated Kokushibo and Muzan Kibutsuji, and helped restore the demon victims’ souls and humanity. After leaving the Demon Slayer world, he entered the Shinigami world to pursue his dream of forging the strongest Zanpakuto.

• Mu Yu learned the Dance of the Fire God from Tanjiro, mastered Sun Breathing, and practiced its forms for nine days and nights.
• Mu Yu taught Tanjiro to improve his breathing and swordsmanship, then showed him the Blue Spider Lily, which Nezuko rejected as she chose to stay with her brother.
• After hunting demons across Japan for six months, Mu Yu fought Kokushibo and killed him with Sun Breathing’s Thirteenth Form.
• Mu Yu entered Infinity Castle, killed the Twelve Kizuki, and forced Muzan Kibutsuji to flee as Nakime’s control of the castle collapsed.
• Mu Yu pursued Muzan, tracked his scattered fragments, and destroyed him with a meteor strike, completing his main quest.
• The souls of people killed by demons gathered around Mu Yu, and the Blue Spider Lily helped them fulfill their regrets before maturing.

Mu Yu moved into the Kurosaki home and drew the attention of Ichigo, Rukia, and Aizen as he revealed his overwhelming power during an invasion of Karakura Town. After defeating Starrk with his awakened Zanpakuto, Mu Yu strengthened his Soul and Physique while preparing for the dangers ahead.

• Mu Yu moved into the Kurosaki home, where Ichigo and Rukia grew suspicious of his strength and learned that he knew about Rukia’s transfer of powers.
• Mu Yu fought Ichigo and warned Rukia that the Soul Society might execute her with the Sōkyoku, while Aizen and Gin began investigating him.
• Mu Yu attended Karakura Town High School, won the students’ support when delinquents confronted him, and later crushed the Hollows attacking the Kurosaki home.
• Ichigo, Rukia, and Uryu faced a Menos Grande invasion, and Ichigo wounded one before more Menos Grande appeared over Karakura Town.
• Mu Yu killed the remaining Menos Grande with Getsuga Tensho, then protected the town while fighting the Adjuchas Masked Centipede.
• Mu Yu defeated the Adjuchas after it revealed itself as Starrk, awakening Yggdrasil and using Dead Calm to stop Starrk’s final charge.
• Aizen described Mu Yu’s abilities to the Soul Society captains, while Mu Yu decided to learn Kidō and raised his Soul to Vice-Captain level.
• Mu Yu used the Sword Seal Spirit Butterfly to refine his spiritual pressure and raised his Physique to LV36, entering the Steel Tier.

Mu Yu trained Ichigo and mastered Kidō before entering Soul Society, where he defeated Gin Ichimaru and several captains. He reached Rukia, freed her, and defeated Byakuya, who acknowledged his defeat and walked away.

• Mu Yu accepted Ichigo Kurosaki as his disciple, taught him Wind Breathing, and then sought Kisuke Urahara and Tessai Tsukabishi’s help to learn Kidō.
• Mu Yu rapidly mastered Hadō and Bakudō, then defeated Tessai in a Kidō sparring match and later sensed Yggdrasil’s spirit calling to him.
• Mu Yu entered Soul Society with Ichigo Kurosaki and their friends, stopped Koryu from consuming them in the passage, and caught Gin Ichimaru’s Shinsō at the Byakuto Gate.
• Mu Yu defeated Gin Ichimaru but spared him, then overcame Kenpachi Zaraki in battle and defeated Kaname Tōsen, Tōshirō Hitsugaya, Soi Fon, and other Shinigami.
• Mu Yu reached Rukia Kuchiki’s cell, freed her from her restraints, and told her Ichigo and the others were safe.
• Mu Yu confronted Byakuya Kuchiki near the Sōkyoku and defeated him after Byakuya unleashed Senbonzakura Kageyoshi and Shūkei Hakuteiken.
• Byakuya admitted defeat and walked away when Rukia called after him, leaving Rukia watching him depart in pain.

Mu Yu defeated Yamamoto, then helped Ichigo master Hollowfication as Aizen prepared to create the King's Key. After Mu Yu entered Hueco Mundo, Void sealed his Zanpakuto, leaving him weakened as the war began.

• Mu Yu fought Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto at Sōkyoku, overcame his Bankai with Yggdrasil, and defeated him, while Aizen stabbed Momo Hinamori and escaped with Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tōsen.
• Aizen exposed his manipulation of Central 46 and Rukia Kuchiki, and Mu Yu cut through the Menos Grande’s Inverse Membrane before Aizen’s group disappeared.
• Mu Yu left Soul Society with Ichigo Kurosaki and the others, while Zero Division arrived and Aizen began building Arrancar forces to counter Mu Yu.
• Mu Yu trained Ichigo with the Visored until Ichigo could sustain Hollowfication, then sent him to face Yammy and Ulquiorra in Karakura Town.
• Ichigo overwhelmed Ulquiorra with Bankai and Hollowfication, drawing attention that helped Mu Yu gain strength, while Aizen and Soul Society learned more about the Dream Fulfillment Plan.
• Mu Yu entered Hueco Mundo as Aizen mobilized to create the King's Key by sacrificing Karakura Town, then reached Las Noches after defeating Dordoni.
• Aizen departed Las Noches for Karakura Town, leaving Mu Yu stranded with the amnesiac Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck, whom he recognized as Void when her mask sealed his hand and Zanpakuto.
• Mu Yu carried Void through Hueco Mundo as the seal weakened him, encountered Nemu in her little-girl form, and was found by Grimmjow three days into the war.
