"Swish!"
A glint of cold light arrived first, followed by a dagger flashing like lightning.
Silver Sable hurled her tactical knife at Su Quan with all her strength, every muscle in her body tensed, legs coiled.
Her explosive power and agility were on full display in that instant.
A streak of white shot forward like thunder and lightning.
She reached Su Quan almost at the same time as her own dagger.
The tactical knife flew straight for his face.
Silver Sable's long leg kicked high, sweeping toward his neck with brutal force.
She had to admit his methods were bizarre—she still had no clue what he'd done or how he'd done it.
But making her kneel in submission?
Dream on!
Silver Sable's face hardened, her expression resolute—
Her eyes went wide!
The sturdy boot froze midair, her taut, straight leg locked in place like a javelin gripped by an invisible hand.
Out of the corner of her eye, the tactical knife was the same—the whole scene seemed to hit a pause button!
Struggling to break free, Silver Sable saw Su Quan's smug smirk, reached to her waist, and pulled out a grenade.
Without hesitation, she primed it and hurled it at him.
Better to die fighting.
If I'm going down, I'm taking you with me!
To be fair, Silver Sable had earned her reputation as the Silver Sable, the one who kept the roughnecks of the Wild Pack in line, because she had that ruthless edge.
Too bad—she was up against Su Quan.
As the grenade flew closer, he didn't use his control pistol, his dagger, or his weird tricks to stop it. Instead, he caught it with his bare hands.
What... what was he doing?
Su Quan caught the grenade, a faint smirk curling at his lips as he glanced at Silver Sable, then clapped his hands together, trapping it.
"Boom!"
The grenade exploded in his palms, a fierce blast of fire and force bursting through his fingers and the gaps between his hands.
Then.
Miraculously, it was sucked back in by some mysterious power!
Su Quan opened his hands, and the grenade's fragments clattered to the ground.
And he stood there, completely unharmed!
His hands still looked pale, slender, and flawless!
Silver Sable felt her mind struggling to keep up—this was too bizarre, too unnatural.
Sure, his earlier tricks had been weird and unnatural too.
But—
Catching a grenade with his bare hands, surviving the blast without a scratch—wasn't that a bit over the top?
She knew exactly how powerful a grenade explosion was, and that's why she was so stunned!
There was no way a human could do that!
When she'd thrown the grenade, she'd been ready to die together with Su Quan.
But now, she was lost. For someone who prided herself on having countless tricks up her sleeve, she had no idea what to do.
"So this is despair."
Silver Sable had lost her mother young, then her father, and had fought through countless battles and crises.
From the day she joined the Wild Pack at seventeen until now—this was the first time she'd ever felt despair!
"Thud!"
An invisible force pressed down, and Silver Sable's knees hit the ground against her will.
When he said kneel and listen, you kneel and listen.
Truly—his word was law!
"Apologizing now seems pointless. You probably don't want to hear it anyway, so let's talk about something you might. I've got a job. Interested or not?"
Silver Sable glared at him, eyes bloodshot with rage. "If you're going to kill me, just do it. Don't toy with me. If I were afraid to die, I'd never have joined the Wild Pack!"
"You're so broke you don't even have an airport. Why would I waste my time toying with you?"
Su Quan looked Silver Sable up and down—well, just up, not down, since she was kneeling. Nothing worth checking out down there.
"Before dawn, I want everyone in the upper and lower districts of Madripoor to know one thing!"
"The Hand's forces have been wiped out by the Thirteen Court Guard Squads, and their controlled territories, assets—especially the docks—now belong to the Thirteen Court Guard Squads."
"Anyone looking to do business through the docks, come to the Void Bar before noon to discuss details. Latecomers need not apply, and consequences will be on them."
"That's your mission. Commission is a hundred thousand dollars. In or out?"
Silver Sable's expression froze. She believed this guy had the strength to wipe out the Hand's forces here.
But she didn't understand what he was up to!
First he scared her, then toyed with her, then humiliated her—and all that just to hire them to spread a message?
And he was paying for it!
A hundred thousand wasn't five million, but the mission had zero risk, practically free money. If he'd just said it outright, she wouldn't have refused.
"You... what exactly do you mean?" Silver Sable hesitated, staring at Su Quan.
Su Quan shrugged, a bright smile curling at the corners of his mouth: "Nothing special. Just building a good connection!"
Silver Sable: "..."
Is that how you build a good connection?
Are you sure that's what you're doing?!
PS: Check out my other works: "Marvel: King's Arrival," "The Vampire: Strongest Reaper," "Marvel: Door-Door Fruit," "American Comics: Strongest Villain," "KO Ranking: Strongest God of War," "I Have a Dimensional Street in Marvel," "In American Dramas: Spend Money to Get Strong!"
You came to me for a good connection with ulterior motives; I came to you for one with my own agenda.
You brought the Wild Pack, I showed off my strength—at the core, our methods for building a connection are the same!
The difference is your connection chases money, while mine chases people!
In the comics, Silver Sable is a righteous mercenary who often fights evil forces.
Her main reasons for being a mercenary?
One, the Wild Pack was founded by her father.
Two, to earn money for her country—the Wild Pack was once Sokovia's biggest external revenue source.
As one of the female characters in the Spider-Man series, she almost teamed up with Black Cat, who was her equal.
(Sony's Silver & Black got canceled—what a shame.)
Speaking of which.
Spider-Man, that big-eyed chatterbox, seems loyal in love, but he's got no shortage of close female friends.
The famous ones include: Mary Jane, Gwen Stacy, Black Cat, Silver Sable, Silk, Shadowcat, Rogue.
His first girlfriend was Betty Brant (in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she later ended up with his fat friend Ned).
He had a crush on Flash Thompson's girlfriend, Liz Allan.
Kelly Cooper (a forensic examiner for the NYPD).
Michelle Gonzalez (his roommate's sister—one time after getting drunk).
Michelle Jones (his girlfriend in the Marvel Cinematic Universe).
Tang Ling (a Huaxian, Parker's latest girlfriend, working at Parker Industries' Shanghai Branch).
The craziest ones include Captain Marvel, White Queen, Black Widow, Scarlet Girlfriend—
Even if some are from parallel universes, it's still a rich romantic history, a pile of girlfriends!
Anyway, back to the present.
Silver Sable and the Wild Pack's strength, reputation, style, and background all fit Su Quan's requirements.
But recruiting them won't be easy. For now—take it slow!
