Reacted, Queen Maeve first let out a long breath of relief at being alive, then the sheer stupidity of her own mental tug-of-war made her furious. She threw open the car door, charged out, and swung her fist straight at that smug, handsome face.
"Ding!"
"Combat detected. Reward dropped: Super Defense (Queen Maeve)."
Queen Maeve was essentially a watered-down Wonder Woman. Like Jessica Jones and the Super Soldiers, her enhancements were purely physical—no other special abilities.
Still, her defensive resistance was stronger than Jessica Jones', especially against piercing and cutting damage. Jessica Jones couldn't tank bullets.
Queen Maeve's fist closed in, and Su Quan's smile deepened.
He didn't dodge. He didn't block. He just looked into her rage-filled eyes and spoke a single name.
"Elena."
The fist stopped dead.
Su Quan used his fingers to push her fist aside, smugly raised his other hand, curled it into a fist, and slowly tapped it against Queen Maeve's dark gray chest plate.
"Boom!"
Queen Maeve shot back like a cannonball, slamming heavily into a wall dozens of meters away.
The wall cracked and dented, dust flying.

"Cough—cough—cough, cough, cough—" Queen Maeve braced herself on the ground in pain, staggered to her feet, and glared at Su Quan with wary fury.
"If you don't want to end up with nothing, don't say that name again!"
Su Quan looked at her warning gaze and smiled. "Interesting. Your eyes tell me you're scared."
"But you're not afraid I'll hurt her or use her to threaten you. You're afraid someone else will hear her name."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk—you're pathetic."
The name Elena itself wasn't special. What made it special was her identity—she was Queen Maeve's ex-girlfriend.
Yes, ex-girlfriend.
So Queen Maeve couldn't let anyone know about their relationship. It would damage the persona and public image Vought International had crafted for her. And she especially couldn't let Homelander know Elena existed.
Though her brief PR relationship with Homelander was long over, his arrogant, self-centered, egomaniacal personality meant he'd definitely kill Elena if he found out—and probably Queen Maeve along with her.
A world-famous superhero with millions of fans couldn't even protect her own ex-girlfriend. Was calling her pathetic wrong?
No.
Not wrong at all.
"Pathetic? Hmph. When you face him, you'll see how small and laughable courage is in front of him. Everyone bows to him. You won't be any different." Queen Maeve sneered in rebuttal.
Homelander's strength was undeniable. How terrifying a dark Superman could be went without saying.
Queen Maeve feared him. The other members of The Seven feared him. Even the staff who served him feared him.
And they should fear him.
Homelander was what Superman would really be like in the real world. Clark Kent's self-restraint, his willingness to be a servant to humanity—that was just selling himself short to please others.
Su Quan agreed with Queen Maeve's point. He would indeed bow to Homelander—when Homelander knelt before him.
"Spit it out. What do you want?" Queen Maeve conceded. She didn't dare risk Elena's safety.
Su Quan's lips curled into a cocky, roguish grin. Originally, he planned to blackmail Queen Maeve into tipping him off whenever The Seven had a mission, then casually and quietly collect their abilities by watching the fights.
But now, he'd changed his mind.
He really wanted to see the look on Queen Maeve's face when she realized the invincible demon she thought was untouchable was kneeling in front of him.
"You can get in touch with Homelander, right?" This time, Su Quan didn't use vague terms like "someone." He called him by name.
A wave of intense unease hit Queen Maeve. She gritted her teeth and growled, "Whatever you want, whatever you're planning, I'll go along with it. Fuck. Don't make this more complicated."
"Boom!"
As she spoke, the ceiling of the abandoned factory suddenly crashed through under a heavy impact. The stars and stripes fluttered. Homelander landed, brushed invisible dust off his shoulder, and stared expressionlessly at Queen Maeve.
"The Invisible Man told me you were in trouble. But now—I'm more curious what 'more complicated' means when it involves me knowing."
Homelander's voice was like a blade of ice in the dead of winter—flat, without a hint of emotion, making anyone who heard it shiver. His sharp gaze held a thousand years of frost, utterly devoid of warmth.
Under Homelander's stare, Queen Maeve felt like even her heart dared not beat. The fear surging from the depths of her soul made her already see the brutal image of an enraged Homelander killing Elena, killing her—
She hung her head, unable to speak. Fear paralyzed her mind. All she could think about was Elena being killed by Homelander because of her.
"She won't talk. You will." Homelander turned to Su Quan, his eyes filled with indifference—the kind of indifference that said you were nothing but an ant to him.
"Narcissus doesn't bloom—who do you think you are, Big Garlic?" Su Quan shot back.
The terrified Queen Maeve jerked her head up, staring at Su Quan with wide, disbelieving eyes.
This—this guy was insane, wasn't he?
How dare he speak to Homelander like that? Wasn't he afraid of death? Didn't he know what fear was?
Luckily, Queen Maeve didn't voice that question, or Su Quan would have told her: The best way to eliminate fear is to face it—go for it!
Queen Maeve never expected Su Quan to be this bold. Neither did Homelander. His originally cold and indifferent eyes gradually burned red with heat.
Heat Vision.
"I think you're asking for death." Homelander's gaze was hot, but his tone was ice-cold—pure fire and ice.
Su Quan, who was supposed to play along, gave a dismissive snort. "You think I should do this, you think I should do that. Why don't you just be me instead? What the hell do you think you're thinking?"
"Fwoosh—"
Homelander's furious eyes widened, and the scorching laser shot straight toward him in an instant.
"Ding!"
"Combat detected. Drop reward: Heat Vision (Homelander)."
Homelander's Heat Vision—strong, but not that strong.
It couldn't compare to Superman.
Against someone with high defense like the hundred-year-old Storm, it would be useless.
Su Quan's current defense wasn't low either. Briefly tanking Homelander's Heat Vision shouldn't be a problem. If he'd just gotten Homelander's Super Defense, he might have chosen to endure it.
But now? Of course, he'd give Homelander a surprise.
Dimensional Teleportation activated the instant the Heat Vision was about to hit. The abandoned factory wall in front of Homelander was blasted straight through and collapsed with a roar—but Su Quan had vanished without a trace!
"Where is he?"
Homelander frantically searched for Su Quan, but a familiar sizzling sound suddenly rang in his ears.
Homelander spun around, and what met his eyes was a pair of demon-like crimson pupils.
This—this is my Heat Vision?
Impossible!
Absolutely impossible!
Stunned and incredulous, Homelander couldn't react in time before the Heat Vision slammed into him, forcing him back a few steps.
The Heat Vision didn't cause any real damage to Homelander, but it completely sent the narrow-minded, petty Homelander into a rage. He would never allow anyone else to have the same power as him!
"You're dead!"
Homelander's face was frosty as he glared at Su Quan, unleashing his Heat Vision directly.
Su Quan fired his Heat Vision in return.
"Boom!"
Two identical crimson rays collided, and the sizzling burn instantly erupted, the light blindingly bright.
For a moment, they were evenly matched.

Queen Maeve was stunned. The dazzling light of the Heat Vision illuminated her shocked face, making her dumbfounded expression look almost comical.
Just daring to provoke Homelander was already unbelievable to her, but she never expected—this guy actually had the same ability as Homelander!
The Joker was me all along.
Watching the two locked in a dead heat, Queen Maeve suddenly had a bold idea.
The strength and teleportation ability this guy had shown were incredibly powerful and bizarre, and with the Heat Vision added in, he already had strength on par with Homelander.
