Conan's short little legs could not run fast. Chasing a car was even more out of the question.
So he directly called his old friend despite their age difference, his next-door neighbor, the peak scientist of the scientific world, Professor Agasa.
After receiving Conan's message, Professor Agasa did not hesitate. He immediately started up his yellow Beetle and drove over to pick Conan up.
Professor Agasa drove Conan and Ai Haibara along, saying, "You two are really lucky. You went out with Fujino to take on a case and actually ran into people from that organization."
It sounded like a sigh of amazement, but to Conan's ears, it carried an annoyingly teasing undertone.
His expression darkened. "You should call it terrible luck!"
"Why?"
Professor Agasa was puzzled.
Conan continued explaining, "If they discover that bug, they'll definitely suspect someone has been watching them. Then they'll suspect Fujino, since Mizunashi Rena, that TV anchor, just hired him."
"Even if they don't know why Fujino planted the bug or whether he heard their conversation, I'm sure they'll still silence him."
Sitting in the backseat, Ai Haibara glanced at him. "Not just him. The organization will eliminate everyone connected to him."
"Damn it, this is getting more and more troublesome..."
Conan scratched his head, feeling an enormous headache coming on.
Ai Haibara quietly added, "Yes, all thanks to a certain Great Detective who planted bugs everywhere and forgot to retrieve them."
Conan's mouth twitched. "Is this really the time to say that...?"
"I'm merely stating the facts."
"If an executive who saw what I looked like as a child sees my face, they'll probably recognize me immediately. By then, they'll be even more convinced that everything you've done was actually done by Fujino."
"At the same time, they'll blame everything on him and
