One day, a week later, Mel woke up once again.
Liberia was hugging one of his arms, breathing evenly.
"Lord Mel, are you awake?"
"Yeah. You've been corrupted by Claire." Mel shook his head, trying to wake himself up a little more.
"Because you never take the initiative, Mel, and you're always disappearing." Liberia tightened her grip around his arm.
There had not been much tangled love or hatred between them, nor had there been any event that needed to be conquered. Everything had simply happened naturally.
Lately, things had been far too indulgent, most of the time spent in a sort of restless calm.
The human front lines were fighting the Demon King's Army, while disputes in the rear had begun to quietly emerge as well. Still, it had not yet reached the point where he could intervene.
He always wanted to settle everything before thinking about anything else, but new problems kept arising.
"Mel, are you up? Or has this haven of tenderness already softened all your bones?" Archmage Guweiste's voice came from outside the door.
After getting dressed, Mel quickly opened the door.
As he looked at the legendary archmage, his eyes remained calm and unreadable.
Sunlight streamed through the corridor, shining over their faces.
But a sharp glint flashed through Archmage Guweiste's eyes as she looked Mel up and down.
"There's something I need your help with. Only then can the church help you." Guweiste had already gone to inquire about research materials related to Witch's Blood.
The church had not refused, but it had made its own demand. Exar's south was currently under attack by demons, and cities had fallen one after another. They needed someone powerful to kill the Gluttony Monarch of the Demon King's Army.
