Both archmages had already advanced to Legendary-level, but they had yet to undergo certification, so no one else knew.
Even Hall-level was enough to inspire awe.
"The war is over?" Archmage Guvis said. "It went better than I expected."
Mel sat down beside her.
He had not invested much energy into this matter to begin with. He had thought taking northern Exar would already be more than enough, but now they had swallowed the entire eastern and central regions in addition to the north.
"You really don't have any complaints, kid? If the two of us Legendary-level mages had acted, it would have been easier to handle, wouldn't it?"
"Not at all. It's good that you and Master stayed behind as well. At the very least, I didn't have to worry about the rear being ambushed."
The northern territories had largely been exploited by the Gard Empire because their defenses had been left empty when the army marched out. However, the northern cities were guarded by powerful figures above Hall-level, making them difficult for ordinary armies to attack.
Hall-level experts did not need to wipe out an entire army. They only needed to eliminate the commanders leading it. Unless someone of Hall-level or above stood in their way, there was basically no one capable of stopping them.
"Mel, you've had a hard journey." Clili came before Mel and spoke softly. "I wasn't able to help you much."
"Master, you've already helped me a great deal. But when we face the Demon King's army, I still hope you and the archmage can lend me a hand. It'll be difficult for me alone."
If he had to face the Demon King's eight generals at once, even if all eight were not Legendary-level experts, it would still be more than he could handle.
