Xi Edwen fell silent. She was thinking. So the Truth Society apostles who had always proclaimed themselves favored by the gods were actually on Mel's side.
"I still don't understand. What exactly are you trying to do?"

White smoke began billowing from Xi Edwen's red hair, like boiling water releasing clouds of steam.
"You've met Big Brother, right? That's your only value. If we have Big Brother, the Sword Apostle's abilities will give us a better chance of winning."
Xi Edwen kicked a pebble off the ground. "How can I find Big Brother?"
"It's not time yet! Don't run around. You'll have your use when the time comes."
According to the Truth Society's research, Brother En was likely under the control of some god. Even though they could free Brother En from that control at any time, they could not act yet, because doing so now would not be deadly enough to the gods.
Now that everyone's attention had been drawn elsewhere, they had a chance to advance their plan in secret.
In truth, the Truth Society had succeeded. Mel saw them as enemies, while the gods saw them as lackeys. By merely abandoning one leader to draw attention on the continent, they could proceed with their plans in secret.
