Background / History

Foundation

Following a clash with Spirit Hall, Su Han proposed that Dugu Bo, Gan Lin, and Po Jun establish a city and academy at Sunset Town. He chose the name Chang'an, intended to symbolize lasting peace and stability. 51

With Emperor Xue Ye's approval, Sunset Town was expanded into Chang'an City. The imperial court provided eight million Gold Soul Coins and dispatched craftsmen, while the planned Chang'an Academy was intended to offer elementary, intermediate, and advanced education. 52

Construction and Early Expansion

Chang'an City grew rapidly through outside support. The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect provided craftsmen, ten million Gold Soul Coins, and gemstones; the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan supplied additional craftsmen and five million Gold Soul Coins. 60

During construction, Su Han recruited Huo Ming and Blazing Academy. Huo Ming agreed to become part of Chang'an City and initially accepted the role of Chang'an Academy's principal after the Soul Master Competition. 53

The city was built with walls described as thicker and taller than those of Heaven Dou Imperial City. Its center contains a large City Lord's residence, while the Su Mansion was established near the City Lord's Manor for Su Yuntao's family. 60 65

Official Establishment

By the time the Breaking Clan and Defense Clan relocated in full, Chang'an City's buildings and residences were complete; only the founding ceremony remained. 83

The grand ceremony formally established the city, with Su Han presiding alongside six elders. It also became a venue for Su Han to publicly challenge Spirit Hall and recruit additional factions. 85

Political Role

Chang'an City emerged during continent-wide war as a rapidly expanding power opposed to Spirit Hall's influence. Its recruitment strategy combines protection, cultivation resources, soul bones, medicinal herbs, academy positions, and binding loyalty oaths. 81 86

The city gained enough strength that Su Han claimed Spirit Hall would need at least ten Titled Douluo to destroy it, while its proximity to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect offered additional strategic support. 67

Its rise alarmed other factions. Ning Fengzhi feared that the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect could eventually be absorbed as a vassal force, while Xue Ye regarded Chang'an City as the continent's undisputed foremost city. 87

Spirit Hall later attempted to frame Chang'an City for the destruction of the Elephant Armor Sect, intensifying the city's conflict with Bibi Dong's faction. 94
