Background

Gan Lin was born a commoner in the Star Luo Empire and possessed Innate Level 8 Soul Power. His Martial Soul, the Earth Burst Bear, gave him strong offensive and defensive potential. Despite lacking sect resources, he cultivated to Rank 89 through perseverance. 45

He spent decades as a free Soul Master alongside his old acquaintance Po Jun, avoiding the restrictions and formalities of sect life. Gan Lin had also hunted Spirit Beasts with Dugu Bo in the Star Dou Great Forest in the past. 45

By the time Su Han sought him out, Gan Lin had been stalled at Rank 89 for ten years and believed that, without an opportunity, he would simply grow old without entering the Titled Douluo realm. 46

Personality

Gan Lin values freedom and initially doubts Su Han's small, not-yet-established sect. He accepts the offer only after Dugu Bo vouches for Su Han and Su Han produces the Blood Dragon Ginseng and Soul Bone needed to overcome his bottleneck. 46
