Shen Yuanyi quickly found a hall. It had originally been a place where the Orphanage held events, and it had not been located here before, yet it had appeared here in this eerie environment.
After running into the hall, Shen Yuanyi glanced around and found himself a route of retreat before bracing himself for the enemy's arrival. Those strange sounds soon drew closer.
The doors creaked open, and a large mass of strange things poured in. Looking closely, they were the Little monsters he had encountered before, only there were far more of them this time.
The different little creatures let out incomprehensible, eerie cries as they rapidly crawled toward Shen Yuanyi. Their tangled mass made his scalp tingle.
Although he could use Psychic Power to strengthen his body, his stamina was ultimately limited. Besides, Shen Yuanyi was still in a child's body. Dealing with them would be extremely challenging.
"Let's try to kill them first. There's no way out of this place anyway. If I start running out of strength, I'll have to find somewhere to hide."
After killing more than a dozen of them, Shen Yuanyi decisively made a tactical retreat. These Ghostly things only multiplied the more he fought them. How was he supposed to deal with that? As everything around him froze, Shen Yuanyi ran out of the hall through the statue-like Little monsters.
By the time those little creatures regained their ability to move, Shen Yuanyi was long gone. After a brief bout of chaos, the bizarre little creatures returned to wandering aimlessly.
"Hm? What was that sound?"
Shen Yuanyi, who had been moving forward cautiously, seemed to hear something. But when he listened carefully again, there was no further noise. Then a piercing crash drew his attention. It sounded like a building collapsing.
"And... it sounds pretty close? Should I go take a look?"
Ordinarily, Shen Yuanyi would not take such a risk. But right now, he truly had no idea how to escape this place. He could only seize every possible opportunity to test things out. In any case, he was confident that he could escape quickly.
So Shen Yuanyi cautiously felt his way in that direction. What he saw next nearly made him curse aloud. A colossal creature was moving within his field of vision.
It was a Terrifying infant monster enlarged countless times over. Its eyes were pitch-black hollows, and its mouth had been sewn shut with dark, blood-colored thread, yet it could still make low whimpering sounds. The monster, nearly three stories tall, was crawling toward a Small building.
"Is there someone over there?"
From afar, Shen Yuanyi could see a figure inside the Small building desperately trying to escape. After some thought, he still decided to get closer and take a look. That enormous monster was very likely the source of this place. If he killed it, could he get out?
The enormous monster quickly reached the Small building. With a few swipes of its hands, it tore the place apart. When it pulled its hands back, it held a figure. It was a fairly young woman, and as she was brought toward the Giant mouth split open in the monster's abdomen, she screamed in terror.
"That's..."
Shen Yuanyi recognized the woman. Her name was Koharu Anzu, an Orphanage employee. She had always been kind and genuinely caring, treating all the children in the Orphanage equally. She was deeply loved and respected by everyone.
"Damn it, let her go!"
Still some distance away, Shen Yuanyi lowered his head and picked up a chunk of stone from the collapsed building, then hurled it at the giant monster. The howling stone struck it, but did not cause even the slightest damage. Shen Yuanyi could only watch helplessly as Koharu Anzu was swallowed by that Giant mouth.
Anger instantly surged into Shen Yuanyi's heart. At that moment, he wished with all his might that he possessed enough power to kill that monster. But the difference in their size was simply too great. Even if he entered that extreme-speed state, what damage could his fists and kicks possibly do to such a thing?
As all kinds of negative emotions erupted at once, Shen Yuanyi suddenly felt his Psychic Power becoming turbulent. For a moment, he could not even sense where its limits lay.
Then a thought suddenly arose in his mind: fists and kicks did too little damage, but he could hit these monsters only because they were coated in Psychic Power. Could he directly use it to attack this monster instead?
Shen Yuanyi had tried releasing the Psychic Power within his body before, but it had little effect on the outside world. So most of the time, he only used it to strengthen his body. Right now, this might be one of the few methods he had that could effectively harm this enormous monster. He could only try.
Shen Yuanyi gritted his teeth and stared at the monster, which had already shifted its attention to him. He tried hard to use his consciousness to mobilize the Psychic Power inside his body. The giant monster appeared to move slowly, but in truth, it closed much of the distance within only a few breaths. As anxiety rose in his heart, Shen Yuanyi suddenly discovered that the Psychic Power within him had begun to move.
He guided it into his right hand with all his strength. Then Shen Yuanyi extended his right arm, palm facing the giant monster charging toward him, while his left hand gripped his right wrist in an attempt to keep it steady.
"Die!"
With Shen Yuanyi's childish roar, a flash of blue light streaked out. The giant monster's body jerked, and more than half of it suddenly shattered. The wound was smooth and round, and even the upper half of a building behind it had vanished, leaving behind a huge hole. It was as if something cylindrical had instantly pierced through both the monster and the building behind it.
A figure fell from the monster's shattered body. It was Koharu Anzu. From the outside, she did not appear to have any serious injuries, but she was already unconscious. It was still unknown whether she was alive or dead.
Feeling as though his body had been hollowed out, Shen Yuanyi nearly lost his balance. After steadying his dizzy head, he saw that the giant monster had fallen to the ground. Perhaps it was on the verge of death, yet it still struggled to crawl back up. However, its efforts were futile.
As he felt the Psychic Power in his body recovering at an eerily rapid speed, Shen Yuanyi steadied himself with the support of that strength. Looking at the giant monster, which had lost three limbs and could no longer move on the ground, Shen Yuanyi raised his foot and walked toward it.
Shen Yuanyi felt very strange now. Emotions like anger surged fiercely from the depths of his heart, so intensely that they seemed abnormal. Yet deep inside, he could still observe all of it from an extremely calm perspective.
The feeling was strangely indescribable. It was obviously contradictory, yet to Shen Yuanyi, it felt inexplicably harmonious. It was like someone finding it incredibly awkward to draw a circle with their left hand and a square with their right, but once they could do it with ease, it no longer felt like anything at all. It was as simple as eating and drinking.
Shen Yuanyi was more or less in that state now. He knew something was wrong with his current condition, yet these emotions had undeniably arisen from his own heart.
Fortunately, he still retained a trace of clarity deep within himself. That was the only reason those surging emotions did not drown his rationality.
The giant monster lying on the ground was still trying to wriggle its way toward him. Shen Yuanyi watched it while feeling the rising emotions within his heart.
"Beat it to death!"
It was as though a voice kept repeating that thought in his ear. Once it appeared, it could no longer be restrained. Shen Yuanyi stepped closer, and Psychic Power gathered toward his clenched right fist. At a glance, his right hand seemed to be burning with an exceptionally dense Blue flame.
The monster's body had already begun to collapse, but the fury in Shen Yuanyi's heart drove him to want nothing more than to punch it hard, pouring all his roiling rage into that single blow. Beat it to death!
Shen Yuanyi raised his small fist. To ordinary people, it might even have seemed somewhat amusing or cute, but in the eyes of those with talent, the Blue flame around his right hand was terrifyingly thick.
As Shen Yuanyi swung his fist, that state in which time seemed to slow appeared again. He clearly saw the Blue flame trailing from his right hand gradually turn black.
A wondrous feeling surged into his heart. At that moment, Shen Yuanyi could feel every last trace of Psychic Power flowing toward his right hand with incomparable clarity. It rippled along with the movements and exertion of his right-hand muscles.
Breathing! Yes, it was like breathing. At that moment, Psychic Power and Shen Yuanyi achieved a synchronization unlike anything before. It was the pulse of breath, the surge of blood. He did not need to consciously command it; Psychic Power was already cooperating with Shen Yuanyi in its optimal form.
As Shen Yuanyi's fist landed on the giant monster's head, the Black flame wrapped around it effortlessly tore through everything. A tremendous boom rang out.
Shen Yuanyi watched clearly as the monster's body was annihilated inch by inch by the ripples brought forth by the Black flame. That booming sound was the wail of the vast stretch of ground beneath it being shattered and crushed.
As the monster's remains gradually dissipated, Shen Yuanyi's emotions slowly calmed as well. Once he dispersed his Psychic Power, intense weakness surged over him. Shen Yuanyi simply sat down on the ground. His right hand hurt terribly too, making him bare his teeth in pain.
"Tap, tap..."
A series of crisp footsteps rang out. Shen Yuanyi looked over warily and saw a graceful figure emerge from the darkness. She had long white hair, with a Ponytail tied behind it. Even her black uniform could not conceal her lovely figure.
Seeing that the newcomer was human rather than one of those monsters bleeding from all seven orifices, Shen Yuanyi finally let out a breath of relief. But... why did she seem a little familiar? Before he could think further, he saw the Beautiful white-haired woman walk over with a puzzled, astonished expression.
The woman's voice carried a touch of magnetism, matching her face and figure perfectly. Looking at the somewhat listless but still wary little boy sitting on the ground, she said, "You can call me Mei Mei, little friend. Why are you here? Have you seen anyone else?"
