Lin Nai: "Speaking of which..."
March Seven: "Where's Xing?"
Lin Nai and March Seven had clearly noticed someone was missing.
Dan Heng looked in one direction: "...Ran off to the other side."
Lin Nai and March Seven looked over and found Xing near the Everwinter Memorial Stele.
That guy was mingling with a group of children.
Lin Nai got up helplessly, intending to bring Xing back.
In front of the Everwinter Memorial Stele.
A girl wearing a Silvermane Guard uniform, with blue hair and a slight blush on her face, spoke:
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am an intelligence officer of the Silvermane Guard, and also a temporary guide for the 'Belobog Historical Tour.' My name is Pela Geyavna Sergeyevna."
"You can just call me Pela."
Children & Xing: "Mm! Pe~la~ sis~ter~"
"Please, the adults here, don't imitate the children so casually!"
Pela's eye twitched. What was with this person?
Chapter Forty-Five: March Seven: We'll definitely make them retreat in defeat!
"Alright, children, please look. This is the 'Everwinter Memorial Stele,' erected to commemorate the great Builders."
"The Builders were followers of the Aeon Ipe. They foresaw the crisis, built the High-Clearance, established Belobog, and preserved the flame of human civilization."
"The Everwinter Memorial Stele is composed of two parts: gears symbolizing knowledge and industrial power, and a giant ice crystal symbolizing the cold tide."
"These two symbols are tightly fitted together. The gears bind the frost, representing the Builders' spirit of unyielding defiance against wild nature."
Listening to Pela's introduction, Lin Nai, who had just arrived, felt a splitting headache.
It felt like...
It felt like being in a high school Chinese class.
Pela must be very suited to be a teacher.
"Ah, Lin Nai, you're here."
"Mm." Lin Nai rubbed Xing's head: "Why did you come over here?"
"To join the fun."
"Is that so."
Meanwhile, after finishing her introduction of the Everwinter Memorial Stele to the children, Pela's gaze immediately fell on Lin Nai.
"It's you?"
It was mainly because Xing, who was beside them, was too conspicuous.
After all, no adult would be so bored as to learn how to call her from the children.
So when Lin Nai approached, she noticed them immediately.
She didn't expect them to be companions?
Come to think of it, the two of them did seem quite strange.
One couldn't sleep at night and went for a walk, and their thank-you gift was a decent song.
The other...
So far, she'd only seen them learning how to talk from children.
"Oh! Good morning! Pela!"
"Good morning..."
"What's wrong? Is it someone you know?" March Seven, who had rushed over, poked her head out and asked curiously.
March Seven was genuinely curious.
Didn't Lin Nai stay at the hotel with them last night?
And this morning, they were mostly pulling Xing away, preventing them from rummaging through that trash can?
"Yes, this is Ms. Pela Geyavna Sergeyevna, an intelligence officer of the Silvermane Guard, whom I met last night."
"That's right! She's Pe~la~ sis~ter~!" Xing said, hands on her hips.
Pela couldn't hold back and retorted: "I already said not to talk like a child!"
Xing stuck out her tongue and hid behind Lin Nai.
Lin Nai rubbed Xing's head: "Sorry, Pela, Xing here is less than eight years old."
"...This is less than eight years old?"
"Doesn't it seem like it?" Xing poked her head out.
"Not at all!!"
Pela clutched her head, a headache forming. No, my blood pressure is a bit...
Sigh.
These two were clearly the type who would cause worry.
"Hello, Miss Pela, I'm March Seven!"
"Dan Heng."
"Hello."
After exchanging greetings, Pela left, as she still needed to guide the children.
Star and March Seven looked at Lin Nai.
"Uh... let's talk about it back at the hotel?"
"Okay."
And so.
A short while later.
In Lin Nai's room.
Lin Nai: Blah blah blah blah blah.
Star: Wubba lubba dub dub?
March Seven: I think I understand...
"So, last night you couldn't sleep, Lin Nai, went for a walk, and got pulled into a place called the Mechanical House."
"Right."
"And then you met a woman named Serval and that Silvermane Guard intelligence officer there?"
"Right..."
"And you got along really well?"
"Uh... I got along reasonably well with Serval?"
In terms of music.
Dan Heng leaned against the wall by the window:
"That Pela is a Silvermane Guard intelligence officer. Will that affect us?"
After all, she's an official.
I wonder if their intel will be sent to that so-called Supreme Guardian.
"Hard to say. We should be prepared."
He hadn't expected it either.
To run into Pela after just one night out.
Ah.
Thinking about it, the lyrics for "Wildfire" might not be so pleasant?
I was too focused on having fun back then.
Hope Pela didn't see them.
But it doesn't really matter, does it? They're just lyrics. Most people wouldn't think too much about it, right?
"It's fine! We'll face whatever comes our way!"
March Seven patted her chest. "If they dare to attack, we'll send them packing!"
"Send them packing!!"
March Seven was starting to get used to Star's habit of repeating things.
So she just gave the other person a helpless glance.
"Ahem, alright, let's discuss things now."
Lin Nai lightly tapped the table. "What we can confirm now is that the Stellaron caused the cold wave."
March Seven sat on the edge of the bed, swinging her legs. "Isn't that obvious..."
"Isn't that obvious!"
"Stop repeating!" March Seven couldn't help but glance at Star, who was lying on Lin Nai's bed.
Star stuck out her tongue and rolled up, clutching the blanket.
It smells nice.
And it's warm.
"More importantly than that... I'm curious why all this city's heaters are outside."
Dan Heng stood by the window and spoke.
March Seven nodded. "Me too, me too! I really like knowing this too!!"
"Hmm... it's probably a heater supplied by special energy. After all, those heaters do have a cold-weather effect."
Lin Nai put down the teacup in its hands. "Come to think of it, the place we came in from isn't as warm as the administrative district."
"That's right!" March Seven said, suddenly realizing. "That place isn't much different from outside the city walls!"
"Those streets don't have heaters. Either they were removed or they were destroyed," Dan Heng said thoughtfully.
"Oh! Right! You guys wait for me!"
Lin Nai remembered something, stood up, and rushed out using Gauss Acceleration.
The remaining three looked at each other.
A few minutes later.
Lin Nai walked in holding a book. "I figured it out. Those heaters are supplied by Geomarrow."
"Geomarrow?" *3
"Yes." Lin Nai placed the newly bought book on the table and opened it. "Geomarrow is a mineral energy source unique to this planet."
"From city heating to the counters in our hands, everything is powered by it."
As Lin Nai spoke, the other three had already gathered around, looking at the book together.
"So what is this book?" March Seven asked curiously.
"Seven Hundred Years of Belobog." Lin Nai showed March Seven the cover and explained, "I just bought it at the bookstore."
After all.
