Background / History

Lin Nai is a transmigrator from another world who vaguely remembers being struck by a truck before arriving in the universe. He drifted through space for an extended period without equipment or apparent harm, encountering several indistinct Aeon-like figures before Herta found him and brought him aboard the Black Tower Space Station. Herta initially threatened to throw the then-underage Lin Nai back into space if he refused testing, beginning years of examinations that repeatedly failed to identify the source of his abnormalities. 1 2

Although Herta treated him as an unusually valuable research subject, Lin Nai grew up on the station with support from its personnel, particularly Asta. He eventually received healing and combat abilities through his System, becoming a medical worker who also handled dangerous curiosities and emergencies. 4 13

During Aha's interference with the station, Lin Nai entered Asta's dream, fought Aha's creations, and forced the Aeon to leave by threatening a repeating time loop. He refused Aha's offer to become an Emissary of The Youthful Passion. 21 22 24

After the Anti-Matter Legion invasion and his defeat of the Doomsday Beast, Herta concluded that Lin Nai grows stronger under danger and encouraged him to travel with the Stellar Express. He departed the station, became Xing's guardian, and joined the Express crew's expedition to Belobog. 34 36 37

Personality

Lin Nai is independent and strongly opposed to being controlled or employed by others. He rejects the Interastral Peace Corporation's Special Debt Collection Group offer partly to avoid becoming entangled in corporate politics or creating problems for Asta. He also declines Aha's offer of power simply because he enjoys telling arrogant people “No.” 3 4 24

He is playful, provocative, and fond of teasing friends—especially Silver Wolf—but is quick to act when others are in danger. He treats injured staff despite complaining about Herta's demands, takes responsibility for helping Asta in her dream, and accepts guardianship of Xing. 8 13 21 36

Though he often calls himself weak or merely a medic, Lin Nai is resourceful under pressure. He modifies a brainwave machine himself, bluffs Aha with limited time reversal, and carefully avoids unnecessary escalation while investigating Belobog. 21 24 43

Lin Nai begins as Herta's mysterious rescued subject and a nominal medical worker. He identifies an Alien Water Sprite impersonating the station chef George, contains its bomb, and investigates the laboratory behind it. 1 5 6

Aha dream incident

After the Mask of the Fool begins influencing his dreams, Lin Nai investigates Aha's involvement. He modifies a brainwave machine to enter Asta's dream, defeats Aha's minions, wakes Asta, and compels Aha to abandon the station. 18 21 22 24 25

Anti-Matter Legion invasion

During the Legion's attack, Lin Nai clears Void Trotters, assists Kafka and Silver Wolf in bringing Xing to life, and joins Xing in defending the station. He later defeats the Doomsday Beast in space. 28 29 30 33

Stellar Express and Belobog

Following Herta's recommendation, Lin Nai joins the Stellar Express to grow stronger and explore new worlds.
