"What more do you want? What more do you want now? I tried to work with these clowns!"
"Fuck you~~ Mr. Stark~~ fuck you~~"
On the screen, Tony Stark stood in the hearing hall wearing a flashy suit, waxing eloquent before a huge audience, while the Hydra congressman watched helplessly as Tony Stark left, cursing all the while.
"Hahahaha, no matter how many times I watch it, our playboy really is incredibly charismatic. Although this guy's ability to get along with people is a real pain in the ass, he certainly knows how to make headlines. The American media must love him to death."
Wang Khan watched Tony's hearing live broadcast, feeling as though he were watching a reality show. At the same time, he knew they had entered the timeline of Iron Man 2. It would not be long before that Polar Bear's Whiplash arrived to teach Iron Man a lesson.
"Guardian, I don't know whether this Iron Man has charisma, but I can tell that he isn't a very good partner."
"Don't worry. I never intended to work with him. This is just a transaction, with both sides getting what they need. Besides, we can strike a blow against S.H.I.E.L.D. as well. It's killing two birds with one stone."
Wang Khan clapped his hands and stood up.
"Bring up the auxiliary technology for researching Artificial Vibranium. Prepare the materials on this list. Our energy problem will depend on this."
"Please rest assured, Guardian. We can gather everything within three days. Should we make an appointment with Tony Stark now?"
"No need. That guy is currently in a state of being a total asshole. Even if we made an appointment, he wouldn't meet us. Let's wait a little longer. The person we want to meet isn't him."
A few days later, Stark Industries underwent a major personnel change. Tony Stark resigned as the company's CEO and appointed his personal assistant, Pepper Potts, as the new CEO of Stark Industries. The news caused an uproar, and even the company's stock began to fluctuate.
However, with Tony Stark, Iron Man, still around, along with the popularity of the Stark Expo, the company's stock price stabilized after fluctuating for several days and even rose slightly.
Two days later, shocking news came from the Monaco Grand Prix. A huge Polar Bear attacked Tony Stark, and the electric whips in his hands tore apart several Formula One cars with ease, including Tony Stark's.
Although Iron Man made a dazzling appearance and defeated his opponent in the end, the Iron Man suit that had enjoyed unparalleled glory and remained undefeated for nearly half a year was still seriously damaged. God was bleeding!
For a time, all of Tony's enemies suddenly sprang up as if they had been injected with stimulants, beginning a media assault against him.
The military also pressured him again, demanding that Tony share the Iron Man suit technology with them. In short, because of the battle in Monaco, Tony Stark fell into an unprecedentedly disadvantageous situation. On top of that, his Palladium Poisoning was growing increasingly severe, and the guy was beginning to buckle.
Seeing this, Wang Khan knew the time had come.
"Red Queen, arrange a meeting with Ms. Potts. Tell her I have a major business deal to discuss with her, one that can resolve Stark Industries' current predicament."
"Understood, Guardian."
A day later, Wang Khan arrived as scheduled at the CEO's office inside Stark Tower and met the modern-day Cinderella.
"Ms. Potts, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm truly honored."
"President Wang, we're the ones honored that you would seek to work with us at a time like this. Please, have a seat."
After both sides sat down and exchanged a few pleasantries, Pepper spoke first.
"May I ask what kind of business you want to discuss today, President Wang? Although Stark Industries is no longer involved in the weapons business, we've achieved good results in mechanical manufacturing and biomedicine. You..."
Wang Khan waved his hand.
"I'm not interested in mechanical manufacturing or biomedicine. What interests me most is your new energy project. More specifically, I'm interested in your Arc Reactor technology, and I'd like to cooperate with you in depth in that area."
As soon as she heard this, the smile on Pepper's face faded. After taking over the company, she had heard far too many proposals for similar partnerships.
If they were talking about downstream component processing or raw-material supplies, there might be room for negotiation.
But every company that came to discuss cooperation with her was after the Arc Reactor technology. Many of them were shell companies for the military. Aside from the fact that Tony Stark had sworn never to engage in weapons research again, Pepper herself would never allow Arc Reactor technology to be used in war.
"I'm sorry, President Wang, but our company has no plans to cooperate with others regarding the Arc Reactor technology. You..."
Before Pepper could finish, Wang Khan interrupted her.
"Ms. Potts, rest assured. After obtaining the Arc Reactor technology, I absolutely won't use it for war."
Pepper smiled. She had heard words like that too many times and would never believe them.
Wang Khan was only saying it for show. Not using something like this in weapons would be a complete waste.
Seeing that Pepper was about to serve him tea and see him out, Wang Khan stopped wasting time with her.
"Ms. Potts, has Mr. Stark resolved his Palladium Poisoning problem? Having a highly toxic substance embedded in the body for a long time can cause enormous harm."
"What Palladium Poisoning? What do you mean?"
"Huh? Ms. Potts, you didn't know? Although I don't know much about Arc Reactors, I've conducted some research. If I'm not mistaken, the reactor's core should use palladium. Without effective protection, this substance can cause tremendous harm to the human body."
With that, Wang Khan stood up and straightened his collar.
"How about we end today's meeting here? After you return, Ms. Potts, please confirm this with Mr. Stark. Once you've done so, tell him that Umbrella Corporation has a way to solve his problem. I look forward to meeting him. Goodbye."
After Wang Khan left, Pepper immediately searched the internet for information about palladium. When she saw that the element was highly toxic and could even be fatal, her expression changed at once.
Then, thinking about Tony's reckless behavior lately, the intelligent Pepper immediately figured out the cause and effect.
She abandoned her work as CEO and hurriedly drove back to Tony's mansion, where she gave him a thorough scolding.
Only after both of them had finally calmed down did Pepper relay Wang Khan's words to Tony. Tony's first reaction was disbelief. After all, he considered himself Marvel's number-one genius. He didn't believe that someone else could solve a problem he couldn't.
But this concerned his own life, and what if Wang Khan really did have a solution? Thus, Tony Stark, Iron Man, decided to speak with Wang Khan.
