History

The Ancient One regards Strange as her successor but worries that he is still inexperienced. Before her death, she asks Wang Khan to help him protect Earth 368.

After Kaecilius destroys the three sanctums, Strange and Mordo arrive in Hong Kong to fight him. Strange is outmatched until he uses the Time Stone to reverse the destruction. He then enters the Dark Dimension and traps himself and Dormammu in a repeating confrontation, enduring thousands of real deaths while trying to force a bargain 369 373. Dormammu secretly leaves an avatar in the loop while his true form invades Earth. Wang Khan defeats Dormammu and collapses the Dark Dimension; Strange initially does not know what caused its destruction 369 373.

Mordo condemns Strange’s use of the Eye of Agamotto as forbidden power and leaves the Masters of the Mystic Arts. Strange later looks back with the Eye, discovers Wang Khan’s role in Dormammu’s death, and questions him about it 373 382.

When Thanos approaches Earth, Strange joins Wang Khan’s defenses. He identifies the Soul Stone’s ability to influence other Infinity Stones and must expend mental energy to suppress its effect on the Time Stone 382 384. During the subsequent conflict, Strange turns the Time Stone against Wang Khan. He later reveals that he had seen tens of millions of futures and acted to prevent Wang Khan from being corrupted by the Stones 389 391.
