Once the players started grinding, the disaster for the Mutants began.
To compete for team rankings, the players applied tactical knowledge learned online, such as alternating cover fire and reconnaissance from behind cover.
This was because weapons and ammunition had to be exchanged using Contribution Points.
If they wasted too much, they wouldn't break even, resulting in a loss.
Furthermore, dying too many times would reduce the time available for farming mobs.
Back and forth, it became easy to fall behind others in development, leading to a drop in team rankings.
After exiting the Tactical Projection Chamber, the three squads coordinated with each other to gun down the Mutants.
Upon clearing the path to a junction, the three squads split up to execute cleanup missions in different areas.
Old Bird, Warmaster, Ten-Timer, along with Magical Monkey (who had captured a Satori to make Magical Monkey wine) and Dovahkiin (who was also a Chosen), formed one squad.
Their mission was to reclaim control of the data processing hub.
That was where the data for the entire ship converged.
After this data was preliminarily processed by specialized Servitors and Cogitators, it would be distributed to various departments and workgroups.
Old Bird had previously taken out a Chaos Ogryn via self-destruction, earning the most Contribution Points.
Because of this, their squad had the most luxurious weapon loadout.
The only heavy machine gun in the group was in their hands.
Relying on its terrifying rate of fire and damage, they practically steamrolled their way through.
Those Mutants couldn't even get close to them before being mowed down into piles of charred, rotting meat.
After another wave of Mutants attacked and was routed by the squad.
"Old Bird."
Warmaster placed his hand on Old Bird's shoulder, wiggling his eyebrows incessantly.
He looked exactly like a sleazy man hitting on an innocent girl.
"What are you doing!" Old Bird widened his eyes, looking panicked.
"I just think you're so amazing, I admire you so much." Warmaster's voice turned shrill.
"Get lost, I'm not interested in men, don't even think about it."
"Are you telling me you've been corrupted by Slaanesh into a femboy heretic!!"
Old Bird widened his eyes, his hand resting on the grip of the pistol at his waist, ready to execute the other at any moment.
Warmaster looked shocked, "Old Bird, I just wanted you to let me play with the heavy machine gun, and you're the one having improper thoughts about me??"
"Get lost!"
Old Bird nearly spat out a mouthful of blood, his face turning black, but he also let out a sigh of relief.
"If you want to play with the machine gun, just say so. Don't act all gay, you scared the hell out of me."
"Hehe, that just means your heretical mind isn't pure enough."
Warmaster shoved Old Bird aside and took over as the machine gunner.
"Let's go, let's go, speed it up. Blood for the God-Emperor, skulls for the Throne. Right now, I don't want to know anything else, I only know I'm about to go on a killing spree."
The small interlude did not affect the squad's advance.
Their speed was very fast.
Ordinary Mutants were no match for them.
They were harvested like weeds, turning into Faith Points and Contribution Points for the squad.
As the battle progressed, they encountered some Mutants carrying guns.
Those Mutants would fire at the players.
But due to Warp contamination and a lack of sanity.
Their aim wasn't very good; they were about as effective as bots.
Their only advantage was that they were fearless in the face of death.
They caused some trouble, but were quickly taken down by concentrated fire.
During this time, Ten-Timer leveled up and even learned a new skill: Aether Shard.
This skill could condense Aether Shards that looked like ice crystals and fire them out.
The trajectory was somewhat erratic, but the penetration power was very strong.
It could easily pierce through even helmets.
"I'm so jealous, Ten-Timer, you're actually a Psyker."
Dovahkiin looked on with envy as Ten-Timer threw an Aether Shard, piercing through the heads of two Mutants.
He was a proper Warhammer mage.
But Dovahkiin's envy did not last long.
The reason was that after throwing a few times, Ten-Timer knelt on the ground, complaining of a headache.
Even after being helped up, he needed a long time to recover before he could continue fighting with a gun.
His combat efficiency was not even as good as just holding a gun and firing away.
Relying on coordination and tactics, the squad swept through the enemies along the way.
The strongest enemies they encountered were a group of armed crew members.
But thanks to the power of the Multi-laser Heavy Bolter and their ambush tactics.
After paying the price of two members being shot and wounded, they successfully seized control of the Data Processing Hub.
The servitors and Tech-Priests responsible for processing data inside the Data Processing Hub were already dead.
However, those Cogitators, wetware, and Calculus Slaves were still working and had not suffered any damage.
"I didn't think much of it when watching videos before, but seeing it up close now, it really makes my scalp tingle."
"You have to realize these things are alive; it's more terrifying than a horror movie."
Old Bird pointed to the rows of Calculus Slaves on the wall.
Those slaves had their limbs amputated, their eyelids sewn shut, and were fixed into metal grooves, with their brains and spines connected to dense cables and nutrient tubes.
"Warhammer specialty: wetware is more reliable than silicon-based chips."
Warmaster shrugged, "At least it's not as easily infected by Warp scrap-code viruses."
"Stop talking about that. First, follow what Guide said: restart the data system and launch the scrap-code purge program."
Ten-Timer stepped forward and told the team members to get to work.
Meanwhile, the other two squads were also methodically clearing out Mutants.
Brother Zhong, Scalp, who brought along Milk Dragon (Milk Dragon also wanted to be an Emperor's Chosen), Movie Bro (a Slaanesh-chosen who sold porn), and Strategist (Strategist who captured Kabanha seven times) formed a team.
Their equipment was not as good as Ten-Timer's squad, but their firepower was also fierce.
Their mission was to recover the Communication Control Room.
Relying on tactical coordination and fierce firepower, they quickly reached the target location.
The blast door of the Communication Control Room was not closed.
The sound of machinery running could be faintly heard from inside.
Bloodstains and severed limbs remained on the floor.
It looked like a fierce conflict had broken out here when the warship met with an accident.
Hideous-looking Mutants wandered in front of the platform at the entrance.
The most conspicuous among them were two enemies wearing black hooded robes, implanted with tentacle-like devices.
When the battle began, these two enemies unleashed psychic attacks on the players.
Rumble!!
A bolt of lightning appeared out of thin air.
Milk Dragon, who was charging at the front, was sent flying by the lightning, his whole body twitching as he collapsed with black smoke rising from his hair.
"Chaos Psykers." Brother Zhong's expression changed drastically, "Focus fire and take them out first."
The other players raised their guns and poured firepower toward the two Chaos Psykers.
But a transparent barrier appeared, blocking the incoming lasers and bullets.
"It's a Psychic Barrier." Strategist frowned, "This thing can divert ranged attacks into the Warp."
"Then I'll use my knife to sanction them."
Movie Bro held a gun in one hand and a dagger in the other, charging toward the enemies.
The next second, another bolt of lightning appeared, sending him flying as well.
"Damn it, eat a shot from my plasma cannon."
Scalp raised his Plasma Gun, aimed at the two Chaos Psykers, and pulled the trigger.
This guy really loved this Plasma Gun.
He was always muttering phrases like "loyal plasma never overheats" and "the machine spirit is displeased."
The plasma orb traced a graceful arc in the air, shooting toward the Chaos Psykers.
But the next second, the plasma orb hit the psychic shield and was swallowed up instantly.
This scene made the players' eyes widen.
They had finally experienced the power of Psykers firsthand.
A plasma orb that could take out a Chaos Ogryn in one hit couldn't even break a Psyker's shield.
"Screw it, eat my human bomb."
Milk Dragon stood up unsteadily, and as his clothes pulled up, the Melta Bombs strapped to his waist were revealed.
But before Milk Dragon could take a few steps, he found himself unable to move.
He was held fast by an invisible psychic force.
"I'm going all out too; no matter what, we have to take the Communication Control Room."
Brother Zhong also revealed the Melta Bombs at his waist, charging toward the psykers with a death-defying resolve.
A Chaos Psyker attempted to control Brother Zhong just as it had controlled Milk Dragon.
However, this time, its methods failed to take effect, allowing Brother Zhong to charge forward smoothly.
As Brother Zhong approached, the transparent Psychic Barrier around the Chaos Psyker shattered like a bubble.
The two Chaos Psykers were stunned by the sudden turn of events, their eyes widening instinctively.
In the distance, Strategist seized the opportunity and pulled the trigger of his Lasgun repeatedly.
Ruby-like laser beams cut through the air, piercing the heads of the Chaos Psykers and claiming their lives.
"I haven't even exerted my full strength yet!! How are they already dead?"
Brother Zhong, who had been planning to go down with them, stared with wide eyes, looking at the fallen Chaos Psykers in astonishment.
"You wouldn't happen to have a Soulless Physique, would you?" Strategist walked over, eyeing Brother Zhong.
"It's possible." Scalp echoed Strategist's words.
"I don't know either. Forget it, let's not dwell on this for now; let's go inside and check the situation in the Communication Control Room."
Brother Zhong stepped through the door, and the other players followed closely behind.
Movie Bro also climbed up from the ground, swaying unsteadily.
The armor plates on his body had mitigated most of the damage, and combined with his formidable physical constitution, he was still alive despite having taken a hit from psychic lightning that left his entire body in agony.
Frost had condensed on the floor of the Communication Control Room.
This was caused by the overflow of uncontrolled psychic energy.
A massive, transparent psychic chamber was fixed in the center of the communication room.
Data cables thicker than an adult's waist connected the base and the top of the psychic chamber.
The Astropath, submerged in the nutrient solution inside the chamber, had been dead for quite some time.
Astropaths were the key to the empire's faster-than-light communication.
On the astronomical scale of the void, the speed of light was too slow; only by relying on Astropaths could one ignore the laws of physics and rapidly transmit battlefield intelligence.
For intergalactic communication, an Astropathic Choir was required to pierce the veil and convey messages.
"Use the communicator to report to Guide, tell him that the faster-than-light communication function of the Communication Control Room has failed."
"Unless we can find another Astropath."
Brother Zhong finished his inspection and said to Strategist.
"Understood." Strategist nodded.
