Qin Yun fell silent at the other party's words.
He turned to look at Blood Pigeon, who was piloting the Valkyrie.
Blood Pigeon looked a little embarrassed and said timidly, "Sorry."
"Forget it." Qin Yun shook his head.
He was just a freshman who had entered flight academy.
Getting the Valkyrie airborne was already impressive enough. He couldn't ask for too much.
"Alright, we'll enter through Entrance Y-107H." Qin Yun agreed.
The other side quickly replied, "Once you prove your loyalty, I'll tell you about my identity and position."
Data transmission request detected. Accept?
A prompt appeared on the Valkyrie's screen.
After hesitating for a moment, Qin Yun chose to accept.
A holographic map displaying the structure of the Lycad orbital station appeared on the Valkyrie's tactical projector.
Entrance Y-107H was highlighted on it.
"Go here." Qin Yun pointed at Entrance Y-107H on the holographic map.
"Understood." Blood Pigeon turned the Valkyrie around.
Under the other party's guidance, the Valkyrie smoothly entered the Lycad orbital station through Entrance Y-107H.
Amid the roar of its engine thrusters, the Valkyrie slowly descended onto an open landing pad.
Once the hatch opened, the fully armed Players stepped out under Qin Yun's lead.
They held their guns at the ready, prepared to encounter enemies at any moment.
The area around the landing pad was in terrible condition.
Traces of battle were everywhere.
Many pipes were burning or crackling with electrical sparks.
The lumen lamps still in operation flickered erratically due to the unstable power supply.
Several corpses in Imperial uniforms hung from the high ceiling or metal colonnades by iron chains.
The dead had had their eyes gouged out and their skin flayed, leaving them in a miserable state.
Every place that should have borne the Aquila had been destroyed, then covered over with smeared blood and painted with the Eight-Pointed Star.
"So many dead people." Brother Zhong shook his head as he looked at the corpses in the distance.
Little Fatty shrugged. "Just thinking about living in a world like this feels depressing."
"Just another day in Warhammer." Bald Monk shrugged. "The official version did a pretty faithful job with that."
Qin Yun held a Bolter in one hand and a Power Sword in the other as he surveyed the surroundings, alert for enemies that might appear.
At that moment, the voice rang out again.
"It's time to prove your loyalty. Those traitors have noses as sharp as dogs—they've already caught your scent. If you don't want to die, get ready to fight."
Data transmission request detected. Allow reception by the Cogitators installed in the armor?
"Agreed."
Data flooded in, and Qin Yun heard the hum of the Cogitators built into his power armor as they operated.
Pulse lasers glimmered along the edge of his helmet visor, projecting a holographic map panel.
It displayed their location and the layout of the nearby area.
More than a hundred red dots on the map were rapidly moving toward their position.
Realizing that the red dots represented enemies, Qin Yun immediately shouted at the Players.
"Prepare for battle! Enemies are coming!"
At Qin Yun's shout, the Players swiftly took cover and prepared to engage.
Before long, the enemies entered their field of vision.
There were an estimated hundred of them, advancing in a disorderly mob without the slightest sense of tactics.
Their hair was dyed all kinds of colors, and Chaos symbols were etched across their bodies.
Their weapons were equally varied—some carried Lasguns, while others wielded spiked clubs.
There were also several armored vehicles decorated with steel spikes, with heavy machine guns mounted on their roofs.
Once the Cultists had come close enough, Qin Yun abruptly leaned out from his hiding place.
He pulled the trigger of his Bolter and shouted, "Open fire! Eliminate them!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Several Cultists were shot dead on the spot.
His body exploded, flesh and wreckage scattering across the ground.
The other Players poked out from behind cover and opened fire on the Cultists.
"Feel fear, traitors."
Little Fatty and two Players set up a Multi-laser Heavy Bolter and sprayed the enemy mob with relentless fire.
In just a few seconds, the Cultists fell in swathes like wheat.
Boom!
One armored vehicle was hit in its fuel tank and exploded violently.
The Cultists were stunned senseless by the barrage. They could not even think of fighting back before turning to flee.
Watching his men scatter in panic, Walker, the Cultist leader, hefted his Stubber and shot dead the fastest runner.
He then aimed the muzzle at the rest.
"No one runs. Pick up your guns and fight back!"
Under Walker's threats, the Cultists barely managed to halt their rout.
The Stubber was heavy and had powerful recoil, usually requiring a tripod or vehicle mount.
Because he had undergone modifications, Walker could lift it easily and ignore its tremendous recoil.
With the Stubber braced on one shoulder and an ammunition belt in his other hand, he swept fire at the Players.
Rat! Rat! Rat!
The dense gunfire pinned down the Players, giving the Cultists a chance to catch their breath and organize a counterattack.
"Smoke bomb!"
Bald Monk shouted as he threw out a smoke grenade, blocking Walker's line of sight.
Then he shouted several more times in quick succession.
"Fire in the hole!"
Boom! Boom!
Several explosions tore apart the Cultists hiding behind cover, sending flesh and blood flying everywhere.
Qin Yun watched Bald Monk continuously throw grenades, each one landing precisely beside the enemy, and felt a little surprised.
This guy's Throwing skill had to be at least at the proficient level.
"Hold the line! There aren't many of them!"
Walker fired and shouted at the same time, doing his best to keep his ragtag subordinates from breaking again.
Qin Yun narrowed his eyes and decided to take that man out first.
He turned to Bald Monk.
"Throw smoke for me. Block their vision."
"Understood." Bald Monk nodded, pulled out smoke grenades, and threw them.
"Smoke bomb!"
"Smoke bomb!"
The smoke grenades spun as they spewed white smoke, obscuring the Cultists' vision.
Qin Yun leaped out from behind cover, his activated Power Sword in hand, and charged toward his target.
The bullets fired by the Cultists could only throw off a few sparks against his armor, failing to harm him in the slightest.
Yet the explosive rounds he fired blew apart any Cultist they struck.
In a brief moment, seven or eight Cultists died miserably.
Shattered flesh littered the ground, like a scene from hell.
In the time it took to draw two breaths, Qin Yun had rushed in front of the Cultist leader and brought his sword down.
Walker instinctively raised his Stubber to block.
The next second, the barrel was split open by the Power Sword, its cut glowing with heat.
Walker was cleaved in two by the Power Sword and died instantly.
Just then, the smoke dispersed.
When the Cultists saw their leader dead and their enemies so powerful, they turned and fled in terror.
"Looks like you're quite capable in combat."
As soon as the battle ended, that mysterious voice came through the communicator again.
"Can you tell me your name and position now?" Qin Yun asked.
"No rush. Since you've already defeated those Cultists, why not stop by the relay station and restore power to this area?"
Data transmission request detected. Allow the Cogitators installed in the armor to receive it?
"Agreed."
After receiving the data, Qin Yun left two Players behind and had them take the injured Players back to the Valkyrie.
He led the remaining Players toward the relay station to restore power to the area.
They encountered several Cultists and Plague Zombies along the way.
Qin Yun's group easily took down those enemies.
Afterward, they restarted the relay station.
As the power returned, the flickering lumen lights stabilized once more.
The automated sentry turrets came back online.
Large numbers of traitors were gunned down by the automated turrets and Sentinel autocannons.
When Qin Yun and the others stepped outside, Cultists and zombies lay everywhere in pools of blood.
Fortunately, they were not identified as hostile targets, and they proceeded without obstruction.
Eventually, they arrived before a grand central data control hall.
As the alarm lights spun urgently, the heavy hatch doors opened.
Two massive War Machines and Adeptus Ministorum soldiers armed with Radium Carbines appeared before the Players.
A woman in a red robe, with a metallic face and her lower body replaced by a tracked chassis, passed between the War Machines and the Adeptus Ministorum soldiers before stopping in front of Qin Yun's group.
"Praise the Omnissiah. I never thought reinforcements would come here."
"My name is Oz Hina. I am the Tech-Priest responsible for maintaining Lycade Station."
"I apologize for guiding you here in such a manner, but I had no other choice. If you had belonged to the traitors, revealing my location recklessly would have left me no better off than those fools who were flayed alive."
"I can understand your caution," Qin Yun said. "It seems we have earned your trust."
"Your loyalty to the Omnissiah has been verified." Oz Hina nodded. "Please allow me to express my gratitude once again."
"Holy shit, a female tech nerd."
"Is this a new NPC character??"
"Oh my god, we've finally come into contact with another faction. Now that the Adeptus Mechanicus is here, can the Astartes be far behind? Can Knights be far behind?"
"I want to wear a red robe and become a tech nerd too. Praise the Omnissiah."
"Keep dreaming. With that brain of yours, you can only sit at the same table as that dumbass War Machine over there."
"."
The Players howled excitedly one after another.
After all that effort, they had finally unlocked a new map.
PS: Time for an Inquisitor meme.
