|---|---|---|
| Blood Qi Gate threshold | 85 | Requires all three core attributes at 65 and a martial art at Lv20; both physical foundation and skill are necessary. |
| Blood Qi Stage 1 | 86 | Zhou You opens the gate through Wild Goose Formation Fist, converting Internal Force into Qi and Blood. He offsets the Seedling Pulling Breakthrough Method’s attribute loss beforehand, avoiding its usual lasting harm. |
| Blood Qi Stage 1, consolidated | 133 135 | A natural breakthrough through Tiger Subduing Fist completes his entry into the stage. The System Panel replaces Strength, Speed, and Defense with a unified Blood Qi value of 100, later raised to 150. |
| Blood Qi Stage 3 | 152 | Tiger Subduing Fist and Seven Steps Poison Sand Palm reach Stage 3; Zhou You’s primary paths begin diverging from Wild Goose Formation Fist’s Stage 1 rating. |
| Blood Qi Stage 4 — Iron Tiger | 165 168 | Entry into the intermediate stage. Qi and Blood begins folding and compressing into a denser form; Jade Tiger Skill reaches Iron Tiger. |
| Blood Qi Stage 7 — late stage | 202 | Five Blessings Palm Fist Record reaches Stage 7. Stages 7–9 are the late stage, where compressed Qi and Blood can allow a drop of blood to shatter a millstone. |
| Blood Essence Stage 6 / Stage 9 | 229 | The panel records Twin Body Tiger Form Fist and Seven Steps Poison Sand Palm at Stage 6, while Five Blessings Palm Fist Record reaches Stage 9. |
| Blood Qi Stage 10 / Rookie Martial Master | 245 | Five Blessings Palm Fist Record reaches Stage 10, coinciding with Zhou You obtaining a Martial Master body and a major increase in available Qi and Blood. |
| Blood Qi Stage 7 — Tiger Crane path | 246 | Tiger Crane Twin Form Fist reaches the late stage under Zhuang Tie’s witness. |
| Blood Qi Stage 8 — Tiger Crane path | 270 | A further compression changes its internal structure and produces a faint ruby glow, marking progress toward Martial Master. |
| Beginner Martial Master | 357 | Qi and Blood reaches 2,100; all three principal martial paths are recorded at Beginner Martial Master. |
| Strong Martial / Essence | 660 | At Strong Martial, the recorded resource becomes Essence: 13,500 with an eightfold burst capacity. |
| Strong Martial Fourth Heaven | 806 | Zhou You condenses the Dragon Liver and Tiger Stomach, the first two Sources of Golden Body. |
| Strong Martial Ninth Heaven | 987 | Zhou You’s Essence reaches 1,027,400 and his lifespan reaches 980 years. |
Nature and Cultivation
Blood Qi is the qualitative transformation of Internal Force. Once Internal Force reaches maturity, it gathers and is reborn as a higher-order force that circulates through the body, cleanses impurities, refines bone and muscle, and regulates physical condition 86.
The Blood Qi Gate is not opened by technique alone. A cultivator needs sufficient bodily strength alongside a martial art cultivated to the required level; insufficient foundation makes forced advancement dangerous 85 86.
The standard Qi and Blood stages are divided into three tiers:
- Early stage: Stages 1–3.
- Middle stage: Stages 4–6, beginning with the folding and compression of Qi and Blood.
- Late stage: Stages 7–9, where compression reaches a level at which a single drop of blood can shatter a millstone 162 163 202.
Stages 1–9 continuously compress and refine Qi and Blood while tempering the body for entry into the Martial Master realm 186. At higher levels, Qi and Blood becomes viscous like liquid mercury; spilled blood can retract into the body or condense into clean beads rather than scatter normally 230.
Capabilities
Physical Reinforcement
Blood Qi strengthens the body from within and is the basis of a martial artist’s power, endurance, and recovery.
- Its initial transformation flushes impurities from the body and purifies muscles and bones 86.
- Abundant Blood Essence increases striking power, endurance, and overall combat strength 136.
- High-level Qi and Blood can optimize the body and extend lifespan 86.
- The body must strengthen alongside the energy; otherwise, overly powerful Qi and Blood can rupture vessels and tear through flesh 230.
External Manifestation
Qi and Blood can visibly and physically affect the outside world once circulated at combat intensity.
- A faint red glow around the body marks active circulation 49 86.
- Qi and Blood disciples can tear the air with punches, crack stone underfoot, and leave deep furrows in the ground while moving 49.
- Zhou You’s breakthrough allows Tiger Sha to develop from a minor force into a usable external power emitted from his fingertips 133.
- Qi and Blood can be woven into external defenses, such as General’s Armor Removal Great Array, which forms a protective net across the body’s surface 227.
Compression and Storage
Compression increases the amount of power a cultivator can retain within a limited body.
- Intermediate-stage cultivation folds and condenses Qi and Blood, compared to exchanging copper for silver, silver for gold, and gold for priceless jewels 163.
- Greater compression is required for weapon techniques; Zhou You states that activating them needs at least tenfold-compressed Qi and Blood 376.
- The Outer Realm Mystic Heart Secret Art creates a second heart outside the original heart chamber, doubling Zhou You’s Qi and Blood capacity from 300 to 600 150.
- The Mystic Heart’s expanded reserve lets Zhou You sustain three Qi and Blood Gu, while an ordinary middle-stage warrior can generally support only one without harming daily cultivation 198.
Object Refinement and Divine Weapons
Qi and Blood can refine objects, with the resulting effect determined by an item’s material and intended purpose.
- A weapon may be refined for sharpness, a container for isolation and protection, and a talisman for defense against Bewitching Creatures 186.
- Qi and Blood Divine Weapons can withstand infusion of Qi and Blood; Captain Qu’s ancestral sword can heavily injure a Martial Master once its disguised nature is revealed 150.
- Attempting to activate a Qi and Blood Divine Weapon without sufficient strength can cause the weapon to reject the user’s energy and burn them 376.
Qi and Blood Self-Detonation
A cultivator may violently release their Qi and Blood at the cost of their own body.
- One self-detonating Qi and Blood Warrior explodes into blood, bone, and flesh with enough force to throw away a sword and blast a crater into the ground 192.
- Zhou You later uses the threat of Qi and Blood Self-Detonation to force captured death warriors to confess 552.
Qi and Blood Gu
The Qi and Blood Gu is a distinct parasitic organism cultivated and fed with Qi and Blood.
- A newly hatched Gu is nearly transparent and can merge into Qi and Blood without obstruction, making it feel like an extension of its cultivator’s body 198.
- In its dormant state, it can travel through blood vessels, meridians, and organs, enter or leave a host freely, and be transferred between bodies 228.
- In its parasitic state, it can remain undetectable even to skilled physicians and relay its owner’s commands to the host 228.
- Zhou You uses one to control Li Chonghe’s actions remotely, compel him to practice Tiger Subduing Fist, and gain experience from the host’s training 228.
- Maintaining a Gu steadily consumes Qi and Blood; this escalating cost is why Hua Zhuomo kept only one 198.
Risks and Limitations
- The Seedling Pulling Breakthrough Method forcibly extracts essence from flesh and blood, damaging marrow and internal organs when used without sufficient foundation 86.
- Wu Yanyi’s use of external aid to cross the Blood Qi Gate leaves him with impure Qi and Blood, a damaged foundation, and chronic illness 66.
- Powerful techniques can impose extreme fuel costs. Activating the Corrosion attribute of Seven Steps Poison Sand Palm triples its Qi and Blood consumption 135.
- Pregnancy and childbirth can deplete a woman’s Qi and Blood severely enough to damage vitality or cause a fall in cultivation 143.
- After reaching Martial Master, Zhou You’s Qi and Blood remains in constant deficit and demands continuous replenishment through food, secret medicines, or other nutrients 344.
