Background

The Golden Immortal Path arose from an interpretation of the Celestial Beings as “immortals” rather than gods. Its followers trace the Celestial Beings’ arrival through the ancient stone bridges between heaven and earth, whose remnants are said to be the world’s famous mountains. The organization regards itself as following in the footsteps of those beings. 170 201

Its central object of study is the Nine Tripods of the Celestial Beings. The Tripods’ inscriptions are believed to record strange phenomena, knowledge, and powers imparted by the Celestial Beings; the Martial Path itself is regarded as knowledge they bestowed upon humanity. 170

Many early members came from leading noble families, but severed their familial ties after joining and kept the organization’s membership, leadership, doctrines, and activities secret. This secrecy made the Golden Immortal Path a subject of fascination among aristocratic families. 201

Tenets and Reputation

The Golden Immortal Path is publicly associated with six words: “Skillfully Driving Away Phantoms, Able to Extend Lifespan.” Its members’ interests are not inherently benevolent; Kunpeng Son describes the path as neither good nor evil, concerned only with exhausting the mysteries of the Nine Tripods. 171 370

The Golden Immortal Path was originally a loose network of lineages and scholarly factions rather than a strict hierarchy. Its members could operate independently, and even insiders often lacked knowledge of the organization’s full extent. 451 495

History

Early Public Emergence

The Golden Immortal Path was known among aristocratic circles long before it became visible to the wider public. Its mystery intensified after Zhou You, disguised as an old man, claimed to be a “foot soldier of the Golden Immortal Path” while saving a possessed girl. The incident led the Xu, Qi, and Zeng families to search for its members and longevity secrets. 200 201

The name was also used by Zhou You as a strategic diversion, exploiting the organization’s existing reputation and elusiveness to conceal his own abilities. 199 287

Kunpeng Son’s Schemes

Kunpeng Son employed Nine Tripods Script to manipulate Bewitching Creatures and Martial Masters from behind the scenes. His actions exposed that the Golden Immortal Path’s methods could be used for mass control, despite the organization’s broader scholarly image. 256 370 373

His association with Tao Zhu Gong and an unnamed Dao Master suggested the existence of a deeper network beyond the loosely connected practitioners Zhou You had encountered. 451 452

The Descent of the Nine Tripods

Fuji Dao Master pursued the original Nine Tripods Script so obsessively that he instigated a massive war and the Great Sacrifice of All Beings, sacrificing millions to summon a Northern Territory Tripod. 730 1162

When a Tripod descended, Golden Immortal Path practitioners gathered to observe and copy its ever-changing characters. Their collective obsession demonstrated both the value they placed on direct contact with the Tripods and the danger of their research. 739 742

Lord Chongyang’s Downfall

Lord Chongyang, a Heaven Grandmaster and Nine-Coin Nine-Tenths Immortal, was the foremost Golden Immortal Path authority in Dijing. He participated in a previous Sacrifice to Heaven ceremony and built his Seal Script mastery through firsthand observation of the Nine Tripods. 861 1162

His continued obsession led him to orchestrate chaos surrounding the Nine Tripods. After his death, his actions damaged the Golden Immortal Path’s reputation so severely that its members feared the public would regard all followers as people willing to harm the world for research. 1162

The Imperial Palace of Heaven Worship subsequently banned public Golden Immortal Path activity. Noble families purged or expelled members, Seal Script treasures lost maintenance, and the organization entered a period of near-disappearance. 1206 1207

Reorganization Under Zhou Ti

The Golden Immortal Path Master later reunited the scattered remnants, allied with surviving factions, and moved the entire organization further underground. He established World-Apart Mountain, a separate realm for elite members to gather and communicate. 1206

The Master’s identity is Zhou Ti, who publicly poses as the Qi Family’s head while secretly acting through a Human Sacrifice Mask clone. The mask creates the imposing identity of the Golden Immortal Path Master and allows the clone to travel across vast distances. 1232 1233 1234

Under Zhou Ti, the formerly fragmented Golden Immortal Path became a unified organization with rigid internal control. Through a process called Listening, those above can use prayer-based connections to perceive the secrets of those beneath them, preventing infiltration and betrayal. 1206
