Improving spellcasting proficiency, and Ernie Macmillan?
Those two pieces of information hit Noah at once, leaving him feeling as though he could barely process them.
Spellcasting proficiency concerned both casting technique and magical power. The first was relatively easy to deal with, but the second gave Noah a headache.
Because he himself had no idea how Hogwarts was supposed to improve one's magical power!
He had already been at Hogwarts for half a year, but honestly, he had never seen a single course mention anything like that!
It seemed that people at Hogwarts basically relied on talent and bloodline power to steadily increase their magic.
Of course, Noah felt that was impossible. Bloodline power alone could not take someone very far.
The greatest way to improve magical power was probably to stimulate its growth through constantly learning and casting different spells, wasn't it?
Noah rubbed his chin and suddenly thought of someone—Doctor Strange, Stephen Strange.
Strange had originally been an outstanding surgeon. Unfortunately, his hands were ruined. After unsuccessfully seeking treatment everywhere, he went to Kamar-Taj, an order of sorcerers in Kathmandu, Nepal, to seek out the legendary mage, The Ancient One.
He had been quite lucky. Because of his exceptional talent, The Ancient One took him on as her disciple and taught him how to wield magic through his mind and incantations.
There, Strange had not learned any method for condensing magical power either. He had also advanced step by step through the gradual accumulation of constantly casting magic.
His greatest transformation had come when he used the Time Stone and entered into a tug-of-war with Dormammu that lasted who knew how many ages!
That battle had thoroughly raised his magical power and mental strength to unimaginable heights, allowing him to become the new Sorcerer Supreme!
It seems this world truly has no methods for improving magical power or mental strength. Otherwise, how could Earth's sorcerers be so mediocre? Only The Ancient One, wielding the Time Stone, became a figure people revered.
Noah thought to himself, but he froze almost immediately as a thrill rose in his heart!
This world did not have such a method, but that did not mean Noah did not!
Noah's increase in magical power and mental strength did not rely on the accumulation from continuously casting magic. He genuinely cultivated through something akin to meditation!
Noah thought that if he revealed this thing, wouldn't he be able to gather a large number of wizards under his banner?
The thought kept circling through Noah's mind. He had never expected that he had been holding a treasure all along, only without realizing it himself!
But Noah quickly forced the thought down. His strength was still so weak. If he revealed this thing, who knew how much trouble it would bring!
I'll wait until I have some strength first. And even if I do reveal it, it can only be within my own small circle, and only to people I can trust!
I don't even know who I can trust, but that's fine. At the very least, I need to learn some magic that can make people keep their mouths shut. I don't want everyone to know about it when the time comes!
Noah shook his head. He felt that he could not keep thinking about such matters.
He immediately turned his attention elsewhere. Though his heart was burning with excitement, Noah could still control his thoughts. He soon recalled the name Luns had mentioned earlier—Ernie Macmillan.
If Noah remembered correctly, Ernie Macmillan was a Hufflepuff, and his future achievements were not low—he would become Hufflepuff's prefect!
Although he was a pure-blood, he seemed to be born hating all evil things—though his legs would go weak whenever he heard Voldemort's name.
Moreover, in his second year, he would lead the other Hufflepuff students in protecting the Muggle-born Justin Finch-Fletchley.
When he was older, every decision he made would be exceedingly correct, and during the final battle, he would overcome his fear as well.
When Professor McGonagall asked the prefects to lead all the students to safety, he would instead firmly declare that he wished to stay and fight.
It could be said that this guy was an exceptionally steadfast and righteous person. He was gifted and did not discriminate against Muggle-born wizards.
Most importantly, he had an excellent quality: he could admit and correct his mistakes!
I never expected Luns to know this guy, and it looks like they have a pretty good relationship too!
Noah thought to himself. If he really managed to rope this guy in, Noah would truly strike it rich!
There was no question that he would not object to such a person of excellent character and outstanding talent joining his team. His only concern was whether this guy would be willing to come.
"How about it, Noah? Do you know him?" Seeing Noah staring blankly, Luns sat up and asked.
"Huh? You mean Macmillan? Of course. Good heavens, I know that guy. How do you know him?" Noah snapped back to his senses and immediately asked.
"Come on, our families have some connection. We were friends when we were little, and we still are. I just don't know why he ended up in Hufflepuff. I always thought he would go to Slytherin."
"Then didn't you also not go to Slytherin?"
"Damn it, I can't stand the atmosphere there. Besides, everyone in my family is Ravenclaw! If that filthy hat had actually sorted me into Slytherin, I swear I would have turned around and left, bought a ticket home for that very night!"
"Uh, all right."
Noah rubbed his nose. He had the strange feeling that he had heard those lines somewhere before.
Shaking his head, Noah could not be bothered to think about that nonsense anymore. The most important thing now was to recruit this guy as quickly as possible!
"Since he's your friend, then my answer is yes. I've seen him in class. His grades are excellent, and I heard he doesn't like Slytherin's way of doing things, right?"
"Of course. If he really liked Slytherin's way of doing things, we probably would have stopped being friends long ago. In that case, shall I call him to the Room of Requirement after class tomorrow?"
"Of course. That would be perfect."
"Then it's settled. I'll go over a little later tomorrow."
Luns nodded, and that settled the matter.
He was quite happy as well. Ernie was a good friend of his, practically a childhood friend.
Naturally, he was willing to have such a friend join them, and he could also give that friend a proper hard time.
Noah smiled. This counted as another step closer to fulfilling Dumbledore's request, didn't it?
Although he had not met Ernie in person yet, Noah felt that the guy probably would not refuse. After all, Dumbledore had approved this.
Hey? If possible, if I brought in all the future prefects, wouldn't that be even more perfect? Uh, forget it. Better not include the Slytherin ones.
