Ms. Heifen was going to Los Angeles to handle some matters. Noah did not know what they were, and he could not be bothered to ask.
Ms. Heifen had her own career and convictions. Noah had no interest in meddling so much.
But Noah knew that if anyone dared provoke her, he would definitely step in, even if it meant violating the Ministry of Magic's regulations.
After all, she was the woman who had looked after him for so long. He could not exactly call her a mother, since if Noah had not been reborn, he would probably have been about the same age as her.
But calling her an older sister was completely fine. Noah had never considered himself particularly easygoing, especially now that he had reached the level of an Official Mage.
An Official Mage facing ordinary people was simply like a butcher facing the animals he intended to slaughter.
Of course, Noah would not have that sort of mentality. Technology was still quite formidable. Just look at Tony Stark—at least in the future, that guy was not particularly afraid of mages.
After helping Ms. Heifen take care of things like their passports, Noah directly boarded a flight to Los Angeles.
But once he was on the plane, he suddenly remembered something. He was a registered wizard. If he crossed the border, did he not have to go through the Ministry of Magic's immigration procedures as well?
The thought immediately gave Noah a headache. It was fucking troublesome!
Noah realized that while mages were sometimes very free, once they got mixed up with ordinary people, they were no longer quite so free!
"What are you thinking about, Noah? Are you nervous because it's your first time on a plane?" Seeing Noah seemingly lost in thought, his expression somewhat pained, Ms. Heifen asked softly.
"Not nervous. I just thought of some... school-related matters." Nervous? How could he be nervous? Noah had flown to university so often in the past that he had nearly gotten sick of it!
"Hey, listen. This is vacation time. I will not allow you to keep thinking about things from school. You need to relax properly, understand?"
"Yes, yes, yes! Dear Ms. Heifen, I think we should get some sleep. It's a twelve-hour flight, after all. Resting early will help with the jet lag."
"Oh? You looked it up in advance? And you're not interested in flying?"
Noah curled his lip and did not answer. There was no need to answer that question at all, was there?
If he did not mind wasting the time, Noah could have flown from London to Los Angeles on a magic broom himself!
Of course, that was assuming every Ministry of Magic in the countries he passed through did not interfere with him.
And also assuming that ordinary people's air-defense systems did not decide to make things difficult for him. In that case, Noah could definitely do it.
The flight was very smooth. By the time they woke up after sleeping, they had landed at Los Angeles International Airport.
Looking at the airport before him, Noah felt a strange sense of familiarity. He felt as though he had seen this damned place somewhere before.
Unfortunately, Noah thought about it for a long time without figuring it out. It was not until they drove all the way into the city center that he finally remembered where the hell he had been to this place before!
"Damn, I wonder if I'll run into two white guys, one black guy, and a dog around here in the future?"
Those three were absolute thugs, but when they came together, the stories they created were undeniably captivating!
At the very least, Noah really liked their story—aside from some of the violence and unsightly parts.
In the end, Noah and Ms. Heifen found a fairly decent hotel in the central district. Although it was in the city center, it was still some distance from the liveliest part of Los Angeles.
The most bustling and attractive place in Los Angeles was still Hollywood. Unfortunately, staying there was simply too expensive.
Even at this point in time, prices in Hollywood were still frighteningly high. Ms. Heifen had no intention of wasting money in a place like that.
"Thank you for your suggestion on the plane. It saved us quite a bit of trouble with the jet lag. I'm going to meet my friend Anna to discuss some matters. You'll be fine resting here by yourself, right?"
"Of course."
"Good. We'll go out for a walk this afternoon. Damn it, I hope things go smoothly."
"It'll work out."
Lying on the bed, Noah watched Ms. Heifen's departing back as she turned and left. They had gotten off the plane in the morning, and after finding the hotel and washing up, they had originally planned to get some proper rest.
But Ms. Heifen seemed more concerned about her own affairs, and there was nothing Noah could do about that.
He could not help Ms. Heifen with anything, especially in a place like this.
Honestly, did the Ministry of Magic in the United States have noses like dogs?
Ever since Noah had landed, he had felt that someone was watching him. Moreover, whoever was watching him seemed utterly open about it, completely unconcerned that Noah had already noticed them.
After thinking it over, Noah decided that they were probably Aurors from the United States.
And the reason they were being so blatant was most likely because they had discovered he was a young wizard?
As for why they had not come knocking, perhaps it was because he had a guardian with him?
Noah did not know, but he could not be bothered to think about it any further.
If they really came to cause him trouble, Noah could only submit to an investigation. It was perfectly normal for the wizarding world to look down on the Muggle world. If they did not recognize Muggle passports, there was nothing Noah could do about it.
In a daze, Noah waited for quite a while, yet not a single American Auror came to his door. Before long, Noah himself was about to fall asleep.
So Noah simply relaxed and entered the System Library to pass the time.
After Noah's strength reached Tier 1, he discovered that the System Library had undergone many changes.
Leaving aside anything else, its space alone had expanded by an entire round. Accordingly, it stored far more books than before.
All of those books were extremely useful to Noah. Most importantly, he found a book called "Beginner's Compendium of Magic - Tier 1 Magic," which could not have been better for him!
Although Noah still did not dare use the magic he had learned from the System Space, not even simple tricks, because he feared people would discover how different his magic was.
But Noah believed that as his magic power grew greater and his strength increased, he would eventually be able to use those things freely!
I'll just treat it as building up my knowledge.
Noah thought silently. The magic he was learning could be considered Elemental Magic.
Noah did not know just how terrifying the destructive power of Elemental Magic was, but he knew that it was definitely stronger than any Unforgivable Curse!
Even the Wind Blade Technique in the Tier 1 magic compendium felt far stronger to Noah than the Sectumsempra he could use at his current level!
One could imagine that if Snape or Professor Dumbledore cast those Elemental Magic spells, their power would be even more terrifying!
"Maybe I can even use them as bargaining chips in the future! I don't like scheming against others, but for a better life, sometimes I have no choice but to change a little."
