Small World · Soren Laboratory. Three years ago, after Black Knight surrendered and the war ended, Soren had not gone around gathering resources like Angel's familiars. Instead, he had found somewhere to hole up and conduct research.
He had only three research projects: First-Star Wizards, Star Knights, and the Goblin Modification Ritual.
The first was Isaac's assignment. His main task was to gather basic data, with a little research on the side to lay the groundwork for Isaac's work. The other two were his own projects.
Strictly speaking, the latter two could actually be counted as one—the Goblin Modification Ritual.
Soren had always felt that goblins had plenty of potential. Though they were ugly and weak, they still—had plenty of potential!
After all, hadn't they produced someone like him?
Of course, that was merely how other people saw it. The reason Soren had always believed goblins had potential was that they, together with Goblin Slayers, formed part of a great creation.
Anything that caught a Great Wizard's eye had to have something special about it. If he could find that special quality and elevate it, perhaps he could create Third Tier goblins!

A litter could easily contain more than a dozen goblins!
At their peak, they could produce several litters a month!
And like dragons, they had no reproductive barriers!
In places with abundant magic power, they could even reproduce asexually, growing straight out of the goddamn ground!
It was utterly absurd.
Even now, there was no way to know whether goblins had always possessed this ridiculous trait or whether a Great Wizard had bestowed it on them.
