Background

Chouchou was the small white dog left behind to guard its late master's Pet Snack Shop in Orange Town. It refused to abandon the shop even when Lion Riki invaded, repeatedly attacking the much larger lion until it was covered in blood and unable to stand. 7

After Chouchou was critically injured, Can Yue killed Riki and fed the dog his blood. The blood restored Chouchou and radically evolved it into a canine demon capable of assuming a giant form. Chouchou quickly accepted Can Yue's commands and became his devoted companion. 8 9 15

Appearance

Chouchou normally resembles a small white dog. Following its evolution, it can become a massive white hound approximately five meters long and three meters tall, radiating a threatening Demonic Aura. 9 17

Personality

Chouchou is defined by loyalty. It originally risked its life for its deceased master's shop, then transferred that devotion to Can Yue, whom it addresses as “Master.” 7 115 Can Yue considers Chouchou's life more valuable than the entire Big Mom Pirates crew, and Chouchou in turn accepts dangerous assignments when its master's expectations are invoked. 101 227

Despite its growing intelligence and tactical importance, Chouchou remains impulsive and comical. It believed Usopp's claim of commanding 80 million subordinates, worried over Zoro's tendency to get lost, and prematurely tried to force Hiyori into marrying Zoro after overhearing Can Yue's thoughts. 16 18 281

Canine Demon Transformation

Can Yue's blood allows Chouchou to transform from a small dog into a giant canine demon.
