Chapter 23: Another Cliché Development?
The next day, early morning.
Shien had already woken up as soon as the sky began to lighten.
It wasn't because Shien was good at waking up early, but rather that during the ten days he spent surviving in the forest, Shien had developed a habit of getting up as soon as it was light.
In the wild, even trying to sleep comfortably was incredibly difficult. For those ten days, Shien would be startled awake by the slightest rustle of leaves or change in light, which was why he now woke up very early in the morning.
Fortunately, Shien had slept extremely comfortably last night.
"It really is most comfortable to sleep in a bed."
Shien was quite satisfied.
Thus, Shien got up early to wash up, tidy himself, and then prepared to head to the Adventurer's Guild.
Since there were no toothbrushes or toothpaste in this world, and people seemed to use chew sticks with some unknown powder to brush their teeth, Shien, who was unaccustomed to these things, had a bit of trouble finishing his morning ablutions.
Afterward, Shien put on the clean clothes he had bought yesterday, then took the bundle containing the Sacred Sword, completing all preparations for going out adventuring.
Looking at himself dressed in clothes from another world and carrying a long, rectangular bundle, Shien couldn't help but sigh.
"Now, no one will suspect I'm from another world."
Shien currently had no trace of being an otherworldly person; he looked as if he had been born and raised in this world, possessing all the local demeanor.
"Well, it's not bad."
Shien smiled, and then walked out of his inn room, heading towards the Adventurer's Guild.
Lamigium's morning was as bustling as yesterday. Even though it had only just dawned, various people were already active on the streets, with shouts coming from shops and stalls, attracting many people to linger.
Fully armed adventurers were also mixed in the crowd, walking in groups from the direction of the Adventurer's Guild, seemingly preparing to leave the city for work.
Shien, while observing this scene, headed towards the Adventurer's Guild along with other adventurers who had the same destination.
Before long, the square where the Adventurer's Guild was located appeared before Shien's eyes.
Shien entered the Adventurer's Guild along with many other adventurers, entering the guild hall he had visited once yesterday.
Perhaps because it was still early, many adventurer parties were still gathering and selecting today's quests, making the guild hall seem even livelier than yesterday.
Shien pushed through the crowd and made his way to the counter where the guild staff from yesterday were located.
At that moment, the staff member was also working, seemingly explaining something to a few adventurers.
However, upon seeing Shien approach, the staff member quickly waved him over.
Shien immediately arrived in front of them.
"Excuse me, I'm a little late."
Still, Shien politely apologized to the staff member.
"No, you've arrived at the perfect time," the guild staff member replied with a polite smile. "The members of the adventurer party you've been assigned to have just finished gathering. If you have no issues, you can report to them now."
"Understood," Shien nodded and asked, "Where is that person?"
"They are on the second floor. Please take that staircase," the guild staff member said, pointing towards a staircase in a certain direction. "Once you go up, a guild staff member will guide you. Just tell them to take you to Miss Vivian."
"Vivian?" Shien was somewhat surprised.
That was clearly a girl's name.
Could it be that the adventurer party he was about to join was led by a girl?
Could this be another cliché development of meeting a beautiful girl adventurer?
Shien muttered to himself.
Completely unaware of this, the adventurers around him were pointing and whispering at him.
"Is that him?"
"That's right, it's him."
"I didn't expect that even now, there would be male adventurers who could join Miss Vivian's adventurer party."
"It's only temporary. In the end, he'll probably leave the party after staying for a full month, just like everyone else before him."
"I'd say if he behaves himself, he might last a month. If he doesn't..."
"Hmph, you're right."
Conversations like these were happening among the surrounding adventurers.
Shien, not noticing any of this, asked the guild staff member a few questions before following the direction indicated, ascending the stairs, and heading to the second floor.
Unlike the first floor, the second floor of the Adventurer's Guild was not a hall but consisted of individual rooms.
These were rooms prepared for adventurers.
Of course, these rooms were not for adventurers to rest in, but for official business.
For instance, some quests required the client to explain them directly to the adventurers, and if a client did not want their quest posted on the announcement board in the first-floor hall for everyone to see, it would need to be explained and assigned to adventurers privately. Additionally, there were quests involving trading items and transporting supplies, all of which required a place for exchange, and the Adventurer's Guild had prepared these rooms on the second floor for such purposes.
It was said that some individuals of considerable status would issue secret quests that could not be handled in public, and these rooms would also be used for those.
The second floor of the Adventurer's Guild thus contained numerous rooms available for adventurers and clients. These rooms were sometimes borrowed by adventurer parties for internal meetings to discuss important matters, and they were also used by the Guild when arranging matters concerning adventurers.
The adventurer party that Shien was about to join had borrowed a room on the second floor, where they were gathering and waiting for Shien to report.
Under these circumstances, Shien went up to the second floor, informed the guild staff member who came to guide him of the person he was looking for, and was then led to a room.
It was worth noting that upon hearing he was looking for someone named Vivian, the guild staff member who guided him showed a slight expression of surprise and muttered something like, "So it's him after all," which left Shien quite puzzled.
Unfortunately, the staff member offered no explanation, so Shien could only follow him to a room.
"Miss Vivian, the newcomer mentioned has arrived."
The guild staff member announced this as he knocked on the door.
"Please come in."
The next second, a surprisingly gentle voice came from inside the room.
The guild staff member opened the door, and the scene inside the room came into Shien's view.
It was a room that resembled a private booth.
The room wasn't spacious, but it wasn't cramped either. It could be considered a very good place for temporary use.
However, Shien, standing at the door, was stunned.
This was because the person who appeared in the room surprised him once again.
