When Pietro returned to the home he shared with Wanda looking utterly bedraggled, she was stunned. She had never seen him in such a state.
She rushed to his side and supported him, anxiously checking him over. Her emotions were so turbulent that scarlet energy even began leaking from her body.
"Don't worry, I'm not hurt," Pietro reassured her weakly. "I just ran myself to exhaustion..."
After Wanda helped him into a nearby chair, Pietro gave a wry smile and told her what had happened that day.
"You're saying... you ran into a little girl who was just as fast as you?"
Wanda's expression was quite a sight after hearing his account. Precisely because she knew how absurdly fast Pietro was, she found it hard to believe anyone else could match his speed.
"Could she be the product of another human experiment?"
Human experimentation was the first explanation Wanda could think of. They had already seen far too many examples of that.
