The agents keeping watch on the suspected accomplices of H.E.R.B.I.E. sent in a report.
"They seem to be gathering in one place... WTF!"
"What happened?"
Nick Fury, who was overseeing the operation from central command, hurriedly asked when he heard the startled cry.
"These people... they're all enhanced people!"
"What did you say?!"
Nick Fury cried out in shock.
S.H.I.E.L.D. had already thoroughly investigated these suspects. They were all utterly ordinary people on the fringes of society, and none had ever shown any sign of superpowers.
That meant H.E.R.B.I.E. very likely possessed a method of giving ordinary people superpowers.
Following that line of reasoning, the incidents involving superpowered animals had only begun after H.E.R.B.I.E. escaped, too.
At last, Nick Fury remembered Reed Richards, whom he had locked away. He had thought Reed had merely restored the powers the Fantastic Four had lost. Now, it seemed they had actually acquired superpowers all over again.
"Pass the word! H.E.R.B.I.E. may have large numbers of enhanced people and superpowered animals. Tell everyone to be careful!"
After issuing his orders, Nick Fury picked up his phone, intending to call Kraft again. Since Kraft had once stripped the Fantastic Four of their powers, seeking his help would be the easiest way to deal with those enhanced people and superpowered animals.
But after giving it some thought, Nick Fury abandoned the idea.
He did not think he could persuade Kraft to help. Rather than waste time on that, he would be better off going straight to Reed Richards.
Having made up his mind, Nick Fury ordered someone to contact Susan Storm while he headed for the Raft.
