While Kraft was utterly baffled by Tokyo's complicated roads, Chianti and Korn, who were following him, had also become confused.
"Korn, do you think... he's deliberately messing with us?"
At first, when she saw Kraft driving around aimlessly, Chianti thought he was trying to shake off any surveillance. She had been rather dismissive, confident that she could stay on his tail.
Then Kraft kept driving around aimlessly, and Chianti thought they had been spotted. Her expression grew serious, and they quickly switched to their most discreet tracking methods, even changing cars twice along the way.
But what happened next baffled Chianti. Kraft's car wandered through the streets like a headless chicken, circling the same stretch of road several times.
That was no way to shake off a tail. If anything, it looked as though he was deliberately leading them in circles.
"...No."
After a moment of silence, Korn answered in his muffled voice.
"He's probably... lost."
"Huh?! Are you kidding me?!"
Chianti stared wide-eyed at her longtime partner. He was usually a man of few words, hardly the type to crack jokes at a time like this.
Korn didn't even need to explain. He simply pointed out the window.
Following his finger, Chianti finally noticed that Kraft had gotten out of his car at some point and run into a nearby shop... to buy a map?
"...He really is lost..."
Chianti's mouth twitched. Suddenly, she felt an overwhelming urge to pull out her sniper rifle and put three or four rounds through Kraft's head.
Suppressing that violent impulse, Chianti looked at her partner. "...Should we report this to Gin?"
"Let's not..."
Even the normally calm and composed Korn sounded a little helpless.
And so, on the verge of a breakdown, the two followed Kraft as he drove toward the address
