As Long Yun's voice fell, a tall green figure appeared before him. His aura was restrained, making him seem like an ordinary person. Even the Ironclad Python Scale Rhinoceros failed to notice anything unusual about him. It was merely surprised that another human had appeared, but it did not think much of it and continued charging toward Long Yun at full speed.
Du Busi looked at the charging soul beast with disdain. He merely cast the Ironclad Python Scale Rhinoceros a slightly cold glance. The rhinoceros's expression changed drastically, and extreme terror appeared on its face, as though it had been targeted by some primordial beast. It was so frightened that all its courage vanished, and it hurriedly tried to stop. However, it had been charging too quickly. How could it possibly halt so easily? It slid across the ground for over ten meters before finally stopping, leaving gouges dozens of centimeters deep in the earth. Yet the Ironclad Python Scale Rhinoceros felt no relief at stopping. Instead, its entire body shuddered uncontrollably. It had not stopped by its own power—one finger was pressed against its horn, and that single finger had brought its massive body to an abrupt halt.
That single glance from Du Busi had already told the Ironclad Python Scale Rhinoceros that this was absolutely not an opponent it could afford to provoke. It had intended to flee the moment it stopped, but now, it seemed that things had taken a rather bad turn!
Du Busi looked at the Ironclad Python Scale Rhinoceros with a faint, ambiguous smile. A trace of green Soul Power flowed from his fingertip and entered the rhinoceros's body. Then, his finger curled slightly before flicking outward.
There was nothing flashy about that flick. It looked like the simplest finger flick imaginable. Yet the instant his finger touched the Ironclad Python Scale Rhinoceros, an astonishing wave of energy spread outward. Like a drop of water falling into a tranquil lake, it sent rings of energy rippling through the air.
"Bang!" A deafening boom rang out, accompanied by a miserable scream. The Ironclad Python Scale Rhinoceros was sent flying with a single flick, its huge body tracing a graceful arc through the air. Its face twisted in pain as it flew backward. Agonizing pain surged from its horn. Although the horn looked completely unharmed, the immense force contained in Du Busi's flick had shaken even its supposedly incomparably hard horn loose. It felt both hatred and fear. It hated that this human had damaged its horn like this, yet it feared his terrifying strength even more. It had no thought of revenge now and only wanted to escape as quickly as possible. Hadn't he sent it flying with one flick of his finger? How could it possibly provoke such an expert?
Long Yun watched the scene and gave the Ironclad Python Scale Rhinoceros a pitying look. This big fellow really was unlucky. Running into the two of them today meant it had suffered a completely undeserved disaster. I'll mourn for you for a few seconds, then. Poor thing!
"Boom!" The Ironclad Python Scale Rhinoceros crashed heavily onto the ground once more, making the earth tremble again.
"Moo!" After hitting the ground, the Ironclad Python Scale Rhinoceros immediately scrambled back up without showing the slightest sign of injury. The moment it got to its feet, it ran into the distance. It did not want to stay here another moment. Fleeing came first.
The corner of Long Yun's mouth twitched as he watched the Ironclad Python Scale Rhinoceros run faster than a rabbit. This big fellow was really tough-skinned and thick-fleshed! It had been slammed down twice and even taken an axe strike from him. Any other soul beast would probably have been unable to get back up by now! Even if not, it should at least have been injured, right? Yet this fellow looked completely fine and was running far faster than when it had chased him. Soul beasts truly had formidable vitality!
Shaking his head, he stopped dwelling on it. He would see whether he could find a suitable soul beast later. If he could not, then that big fellow would really be out of luck.
"Young Master, are you all right?" Du Busi turned around and asked Long Yun with concern.
"I'm fine. My whole body just hurts a little, there's a hint of blood in my throat, and my head is a bit dizzy, that's all," Long Yun said jokingly.
Du Busi could tell that Long Yun was in poor condition. He smiled faintly, then vast and majestic Soul Power surged from his body and entered Long Yun's. Long Yun had expended a great deal of Soul Power, so giving him some would help him recover from his injuries.
Long Yun did not refuse. The moment the Soul Power entered his body, he felt warmth spread through every part of him. Countless warm currents flowed within him, and his exhausted body quickly recovered considerably. He even felt stronger than before, while the pain in his body also lessened greatly.
A minute later, Du Busi stopped channeling Soul Power into him. Long Yun had nearly recovered, so there was no need to continue.
Long Yun let out a long breath, and color returned to his face. "Old Poison, your Soul Power is really useful! With your Soul Power entering my body, my injuries seem to be recovering much faster than usual, and the Soul Power I consumed is also returning quickly," Long Yun said happily.
"Haha, once a soul master reaches rank ninety, Soul Power gains more and more wondrous uses. You'll understand when the time comes, Young Master," Du Busi said with a laugh.
"Mm." Long Yun nodded. His yearning for Titled Douluo grew ever stronger, and he became increasingly passionate about gaining strength.
"Titled Douluo? I don't think it'll be long before I reach that level!" Long Yun clenched his fists and murmured softly.
Ten days later!
The midday sun was even hotter than expected. It shone through the lush leaves and onto the ground, making the forest floor feel faintly scorching. The chirping of cicadas, birdsong, and beast roars rang out from time to time, filling the forest with boundless life. Within this forest teeming with soul beasts, a slender figure strolled leisurely, showing no awareness whatsoever that he was deep within the Soul Beast Forest.
The figure was around 1.65 meters tall and somewhat lean, dressed in white robes and white trousers, with short hair. It was Long Yun, who had spent more than ten days in the forest.
"A bath really does feel refreshing!" Long Yun wore a comfortable expression as he moved through the woods. He no longer had the wariness and unease from before, constantly watching his surroundings for soul beasts that might attack him, afraid of encountering some powerful soul beast he could not handle.
During these ten-plus days of training, he encountered twenty or thirty soul beasts every day. More than half of them had fought with him. As for the other half, they were too weak, and he could not be bothered to fight them, so he simply had Old Poison release his pressure and frighten them away. As for why he had Du Busi do it, naturally, it was because he did not yet have the ability to scare soul beasts away by himself—not even those that had only just passed a thousand years. He still knew his own limits. Even so, he still went through more than a dozen battles every day.
It could be said that he fought from morning to night. After each battle, he had Old Poison channel some Soul Power into him to help him recover quickly, allowing him to hurry to the next fight. It was a perfect way to save time. After defeating soul beasts, he did not kill them unless they stubbornly pestered him and insisted on fighting him to the death. For those thickheaded fellows, well, sorry, but they would make a fine addition to dinner tonight!
He suffered plenty of injuries in a day of battle, but none were serious enough to damage his bones or muscles. Usually, a single night of cross-legged cultivation was enough to restore him completely, just like the injuries the Man Faced Demon Spider had inflicted on him before. He had recovered from those overnight as well.
This had much to do with his own powerful recovery ability. As the number of times he was injured increased, his recovery ability seemed to have become considerably stronger than before. Even Long Yun had been quite puzzled when he first noticed this, but since he could not think of a reason, he attributed it to the system or his martial soul. Those were the most unusual things about him, after all. If they were not responsible, could it really be that his natural recovery ability was simply this strong? He would not even believe that himself.
After more than ten days of high-frequency combat, Long Yun's fighting skills had improved greatly. When facing soul beasts, he no longer panicked as though confronting monsters. Instead, he felt a faint excitement. He had begun to enjoy battle deep in his bones. Whether it was the influence of the Godking Martial Soul or the changes in temperament brought about by all these battles, he no longer rejected fighting at all.
Long Yun now seemed somewhat more mature than before. Although his appearance had not changed much, his bearing had become steadier. His eyes were brighter and more spirited as well. He had lost some of his scholarly air and gained a hint of wild, unrestrained boldness.
"I've finally fully adapted to my Soul Power during this time. I can start considering my Second Soul Ring," Long Yun thought as he walked.
"I'll focus on searching for soul beasts today. If I can't find one, I'll go look for those soul beasts I marked tomorrow!" Long Yun made up his mind. Over the past few days, he had encountered several soul beasts that were fairly suitable to become his soul ring, and he had asked Old Poison to mark them as alternatives.
