Fuji's tone was grave, as though something serious had happened. At first, Shiraishi thought she had discovered something suspicious about Reiko Akiba, but—

"Just now, Miss Akiba was attacked," Fuji said gravely.

"Attacked?" Shiraishi froze.

From Fuji's account, Shiraishi learned what had happened.

Fuji and Kawai had been patrolling Beika Town as usual when they suddenly heard screams. They immediately drove toward the source of the noise.

They found Miss Akiba and the Detective Boys being chased by a truck.

Seeing that the situation was dire, Fuji immediately sounded the horn, shouted a warning, and drove after them—

While running, Akiba turned into an alley, and the vehicle charged after her. Fortunately, Fuji and Kawai blocked the entrance with their car in time. The truck abruptly stopped, then reversed and fled.

However, they had been some distance away, and Fuji and Kawai had focused all their attention on Akiba and the children. By the time they thought to pursue the truck driver, he had vanished without a trace, leaving only the truck nearby.

Conan and a female singer had used harmonies to call the police—though that was the only scene he remembered.

Could it have been Akiba?

Unfortunately, he couldn't remember anything at all about the case itself.

"Sorry, Chief. It was our negligence that allowed the culprit to escape," Fuji said self-reproachfully.

Shiraishi comforted her. "Don't say that. Our duty is to ensure people's safety first.
