Yamato excitedly brought Sirius to Onigashima's kitchen.
Although the Beasts Pirates had not yet reached the immense scale they would have eighteen years later, they still had plenty of members. Besides, pirates were the sort of creatures who could start a banquet whenever the mood struck them.
So although it was already rather late, the kitchen staff had not clocked out yet. When they saw Yamato dragging Sirius inside, they immediately came over with broad smiles.
"Lady Oni-Hime, would you like a late-night snack?"
Kaido was the demon king who ruled Onigashima, so naturally his daughter was the Oni Princess.
"Mm."
Yamato nodded. "Sirius said he's hungry, so make him something to eat."
Only then did the chefs turn their attention to Sirius. They said respectfully,
"Oh, you must be Lord Sirius? Please wait a moment. We'll prepare the most sumptuous late-night meal for you right away!"
It seemed that in such a short time, his name had already spread throughout all of Onigashima.
Sirius smiled. "Then I'll be troubling you. I'm not picky, though meat would be best."
"You're too polite, Lord Sirius! Please wait a moment. We'll get your food ready immediately."
The chefs were so excited that their faces had turned red.
Though he was young, this was someone Boss Kaido had personally recognized as the Beasts Pirates' future Third Calamity! Someone who would stand shoulder to shoulder with Lord King and Lord Queen!
If they got on his good side, would there be any shortage of benefits in the future?
The chefs went off to prepare the food. Yamato pulled Sirius into a small dining room outside the kitchen and found a seat. Her sparkling eyes brimmed with curiosity as she swung her legs playfully and tilted her head.
"Sirius, you're from outside Wano Country, just like Jack, right? What is the sea outside really like?"
Sirius knew that Yamato was the same age as Momonosuke. She had probably been born only after Kaido came to Wano Country and had never left the country since birth.
He smiled. "The outside world is unimaginably beautiful!"
"Whoa~ Unimaginably? That sounds amazing!" Yamato's eyes widened.
Her little head clearly did not understand what unimaginably meant.
Sirius simply stood on the stool and gestured grandly.
"The outside world has towering Giant Tribes and tiny Dwarf Tribes!"
"It has the Red Line, rising into the clouds and encircling the world! It has the Grand Line, where countless ships race and powerful people gather!"
"It has Sky Kingdoms floating above the clouds! It also has Ryugu Palace hidden deep beneath the sea!"
"It has Great Goldfish that can bite off an entire island in one mouthful! It also has vast archipelagos made up of dozens of giant trees!"
"Some islands are springlike all year round, while others are always laden with fruit! Some islands are scorching hot, while others remain frozen forever!"
Yamato stared blankly at Sirius as he spoke with passionate conviction, utterly absorbed.
"So, Sirius, have you seen all those sights with your own eyes?" Black Maria asked in surprise from a nearby table, where she sat because of her large stature.
"Of course not."
Sirius grinned, jumped down from the stool, casually wiped it off, then quickly climbed back up and sat down. "I read about them in books."
"So you haven't seen them!"
Maria puffed out her cheeks. "You must be lying!"
"Huh? You were lying?" Yamato was horrified.
"Sirius wasn't lying!"
Jack, sitting at another table, loudly retorted, "I heard Mother talk about Ryugu Palace! It's on Fish-Man Island, ten thousand meters beneath the sea! It's our Fish-Men's homeland! I'll definitely go back and see it someday!"
Only then did Yamato let out a sigh of relief. "What the heck, so it really is true!"
"Of course it's true!"
Sirius said, "Even though I haven't seen any of it yet, one day I'll set foot in every corner of the sea and see every beautiful sight in the world!"
"I want to go too!"
Yamato slapped the table and stood up. Her eyes shone with touched tears as she grabbed Sirius's hand. "Sirius, take me with you, okay!"
"Sure."
Sirius smiled. "We're companions, after all."
"Yay!"
Yamato pumped her fist excitedly. "Then it's a promise!"
"I want to go too."
Black Maria looked conflicted. "But I still have to become Wano Country's number one Courtesan, then serve Lord Kaido."
Sirius could not help shooting her a sidelong glance.
Girl, you're only nine.
Uncle Kaido, even for a pirate, aren't you too much of a scumbag?
"Hmph, I'm not interested at all."
Jack snorted unhappily. "I don't care what the world is like! It's enough for me to follow behind Boss Kaido!"
"That's why I'm saying,"
Sirius said, "this world respects everyone's dreams. Just do whatever you want."
"Heh."
Jack smiled shyly.
As they chatted and laughed, the chefs finished preparing the late-night meal.
Steaming food was brought out, enough to fill three tables.
The tempting aroma instantly made Sirius's mouth water. He really was hungry.
"Then, let's eat!"
Sirius did not stand on ceremony at all, nor did he care about table manners. He directly grabbed a chunk of meat on the bone and stuffed it into his mouth.
His stomach was like a bottomless pit. He bit through huge pieces of meat and swallowed them, yet his belly remained completely flat.
It had been a long time since he had eaten so heartily. Hunting for himself on Desert Island had been quite troublesome.
"Wow, Sirius, you really can eat."
Maria could not help exclaiming, "You're practically just like Mr. Kaido."
"How could that be! Sirius can't eat nearly as much as Boss Kaido! Boss Kaido is the biggest eater!" Jack did not forget to defend his idol's dignity even in this regard.
"I'm quite confident when it comes to appetite!"
Sirius held a roasted lamb leg in each hand and gnawed them down to bare bones in just a few bites.
He ate with a blissful expression, his face gleaming with oil.
Yamato pursed her lips, then suddenly reached out as well. "Watching you made me hungry too!! Let's settle this with a contest, Sirius!"
"Oh! Bring it on!"
Sirius met the challenge head-on. He was fired up!
"How childish." Black Maria curled her lip.
"Mm, two idiots!" Jack nodded repeatedly with great seriousness.
Sirius and Yamato paused slightly, looked at each other, and grinned at the same time.
Then they both leaped up, each grabbed a piece of meat, and stuffed it straight into the mouths of the unprepared Black Maria and Jack.
"Wah! Yamato, you got my clothes dirty!"
"Sirius, you idiot!"
And so, the four of them began an eating contest.
Sirius did not think there was anything childish about playing with children.
He had reached the end of his life while still at the age of a high school student in his previous life. He had spent most of his earlier years in a hospital bed, and much of his understanding of the world had come from films, novels, and manga. He was not really some mature man.
After the lively late-night meal, Sirius said goodbye to Yamato and Black Maria. They agreed to watch a movie together the next day, and then he returned to where they lived with Jack.
After returning to his room, Sirius lay on the soft bed and recalled everything that had happened that day.
He had met Kaido, escaped Desert Island, joined the Beasts Pirates, and made several good friends.
What a fulfilling day.
Satisfied, Sirius drifted off to sleep.
"Sirius, time to get up!"
Awakened by the noise, Sirius groggily climbed out of bed and opened the door in confusion, looking at Jack standing outside.
"Stop sleeping! Brother King is waiting for us! Hurry up and get changed!"
Jack said hurriedly.
Sirius washed his face to wake himself up, then changed into the clothes that had long been prepared in the room: a beast-hide jacket and black leather pants, perfectly suited to the Beasts Pirates' style.
Sirius found them rather novel. He even put on the decorative pair of horns.
By the time he walked out of the room, Jack had already grown impatient. The moment he saw Sirius emerge, he slung him over his shoulder and ran.
"You're too slow! Brother King will definitely get angry!"
"So what's going on now?"
Sirius settled himself on Jack's shoulder and asked blankly, "Aren't we eating breakfast first? I'm really hungry."
"Breakfast is after morning training! Also, didn't you eat so much last night?"
"Morning training?"
So class was starting already?
