What Caldo found ridiculous was what kind of person would think a corpse blessed through a priest's prayers could be raised by Undead magic and crawl out of its coffin again! Wouldn't that make the priest's purification magic and holy light pacification seem utterly useless?
"I think that, following the Empire's wartime burial procedures, there shouldn't have been such a farce of Undead climbing back up. The bishop in charge of that parish would probably be hung on the pyre by the Temple Inquisition!" Caldo complained. Pulling something like this in a nation under the Dragon God's protection? Where was the bishop's dignity? Where was the Temple's dignity?!
"Then we need to be careful! If this isn't an ancient Imperial battlefield ruin..." Caslo narrowed his eyes.
"I knew it wasn't that simple, be caref—" Caldo's eyelid twitched as he began to speak, but Caslo instinctively raised his longsword to block at his side.
Boom!
"I told you to be careful..." Caldo said quietly, looking at Caslo as he crawled out of the wall.
"Cough, cough! I knew this thing was here!" Caslo ignored Caldo's words. He coughed, wearing an expression that said he had expected this all along.
Before the man and dragon crouched a bizarre skeleton. Unlike the claws of ordinary skeletons, this thing had bone scythes like those of a mantis! Its two enormous bone scythes were each as tall as a person. No one doubted that one swing could slice several people in half!
"Mantis Corpse Puppet! This thing!" Caslo rotated his wrist, preparing to strike.
Whoosh! Before Caslo could act, a terrifying green flame burst forth. The next second, the Mantis Corpse Puppet had been reduced to two skeletal legs and half a bone blade.
Amid a series of clattering bone impacts, the dismantled Corpse Puppet
