Smallville was a town so tiny it could not have been smaller. It obviously had no advanced transportation to welcome visitors from Metropolis, but the nearest airport was too far away—driving there took ages, and taking the train took even longer.
So, the place Clark and Lois had agreed to meet was not the airport in Kansas City, but the train station in Wichita, a city to the south. Since they were picking up two ladies this time, Clark and Bruce had not chosen to drive that beat-up old pickup truck. Instead, they had borrowed the neighbor's family sedan.
They arrived at the train station early. Clark stood outside the platform, holding a notebook containing the travel details and constantly looking around. Before the train had even pulled in, Clark said excitedly, "They're here, they're here!"
Bruce turned to look at him and asked, "Do you like Lois?"
"I don't."
"You do."
"We're just pure friends."
"Impossible."
Clark looked at Bruce helplessly and said, "Are you planning to pretend to be some kind of relationship expert now? Do you even have a girlfriend?"
"Of course I do." Bruce turned to look at the train entering the station. "But she's recently become obsessed with her dream of being a Hollywood actress, so she has no time to deal with me."
Clark curled his lip, then nudged Bruce's arm with his elbow in concern. "Whatever you do, don't let anything slip later. I haven't even started courting her yet!"
