Clark was raised on a farm in Kansas by Jonathan and Martha Kent. He considers himself an Earthling, having been born and raised there despite his Kryptonian origin. His parents' values, rather than his heritage, form the basis of his sense of justice and responsibility 485 1217 2632.

While attending university, Clark struggled to conceal his extraordinary abilities. His athletic superiority alienated track-team peers, while using flight or strength for ordinary conveniences left him feeling as though he had cheated.
