Their seamless, theatrical back-and-forth shoved Bruce's attempted explanation back down his throat. It felt like punching cotton, leaving him with a profound sense of helplessness.
There was actually nothing difficult to explain. Over the past four years, the most common form of mutual torture between Bruce and Schiller had been revising Bruce's Thesis.
Even though Bruce Wayne was a famously wealthy tycoon, a renowned psychologist like Schiller would not humble himself for a few dollars and rush over to Wayne Manor to revise his thesis.
Nor would Bruce let Schiller do that, because Selene, Dick, Aisha, and Alfred were all at Wayne Manor.
Never mind his girlfriend and children. If Alfred found out what his thesis looked like, even Aisha probably would not be able to salvage the image Bruce had only just begun to rebuild in Alfred's eyes.
