Several people turned to look at Wanda nervously, but Wanda showed no sign of anything unusual. She merely shook her head and said, "My connection with Chthon has been restored. He just called me. Give me a moment."

Wanda stood quietly where she was and sank into the vision within her mind. She sensed the distant connection to the power of chaos, then answered Chthon's call as she always had.

"Wanda, what's wrong? Why didn't you answer?" The Great Demon Shadow seemed wholly incapable of human pleasantries. He asked bluntly, "Are you dead?"

"You're the one who—"

Wanda was about to retort, but Chthon's appearance within her inner vision stunned her. He was nothing like the Chthon she had seen before—a pair of glowing eyes amid a mass of chaotic black mist.

She saw how the veins of infinite power formed such a great being. She saw how chaos had built an entire universe upon him.

Wanda saw part of the truth of the universe—the complete truth of the part concerning chaos.

It was something the human mind simply could not comprehend.

"Aahhh!!" Wanda let out a scream.

With a whoosh, Wanda woke up, as though Chthon had cast her out. Her eyes were filled with dazzling light. That terrifyingly complex knowledge had been brutally stuffed into her mind, leaving her almost unable to recognize her own thoughts.
