Jarvis and Shang-Chi leaned their heads together, looking at the enormous front-page photo of The Ancient One. She appeared to be running—or rather, flying—with a little girl in her arms.
"Monster?" Jarvis was the first to read the word aloud. He frowned as he studied the photo of The Ancient One, unable to spot anything unusual. There were not even any black markings on her face.
Following that line of thought, he noticed the date on the newspaper and realized it was from eleven days ago—the twenty-ninth day The Ancient One had mentioned after arriving here, and also the day the incident occurred.
Shang-Chi went upstairs to call the others. Wanda and Riley came down and gathered around the paper as well. They were equally confused by the word "monster." To them, there was nothing strange about The Ancient One, and the way she held the little girl did not look like a kidnapping.
"Could people have been frightened because The Ancient One could fly and use magic?" Wanda guessed.
"Look here—'an upright four-limbed monster.'" Riley frowned. "That description is too strange. Who doesn't have four limbs?"
"Those monsters don't." Jarvis suddenly froze. He was not human, so he could view the matter from a more objective angle.
"Do you think I'm a monster?" Jarvis suddenly asked.
"Stop messing around." Thinking he was joking, Wanda deliberately put on a more serious expression. "We're discussing something important."
"But what about this?" Jarvis extended one hand. Before Riley and Shang-Chi's horrified eyes, his skin gradually vanished, revealing a palm filled with mechanical structures.
"You're actually a—"
Before Shang-Chi could cry out, Riley clapped a hand over his mouth. Clearly, his Spider-Sense had warned him beforehand. He gestured toward Wanda, and Shang-Chi froze in place, doing his best to hold back his gasp.
