"Annihilation" was a major event in the Marvel Universe, because it indirectly led to the birth of the Living Tribunal, finally giving the Living Tribunal—an entity with an originally impressive setting but a habit of getting beaten up—some real prestige. The evolved Living Tribunal Adam finally lived up to his own premise.
In the comics, the causes and consequences of this event were roughly the same as the process Adam had described to Quill. Annihilus of the Annihilation Zerg found a way to open a passage and invade the positive Material Universe, then the Nova Corps and the surviving Guardians of the Galaxy fought a huge battle against them and ultimately killed Annihilus.
Adam worried that Schiller would go mad because the plan he had devised failed to be completed, and he also worried that Schiller would go mad because deities had casually interfered with the timeline. But the biggest problem was that the characters he had chosen for the Speedrun were the Guardians of the Galaxy.
In the instant he was slapped into the wall by furious Groot's branches, Adam thought of many things.
He knew the entire Guardians of the Galaxy were unreliable, but he had never expected the combination of Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon to be this destructive.
He knew humans were unreliable creatures, but he had never expected Star-Lord to resonate with the people of Gotham at this
