The first class at Kamar-Taj Magic Academy exceeded every outsider's expectations. There was no recitation from textbooks, no repeated reminders. They heard only one word from the Archmage of the Holy Sword: "Run!"

At six-thirty in the morning, six thousand meters above sea level, what did it feel like to run through an endless blizzard?

The magic helping Harley, Little Bruce, and Barry acclimate to the high altitude had not yet been removed, so they did not have to contend with oxygen deprivation for the moment. But the snow that had completely buried their lower legs was already enough to make every step a struggle.

All the other students, however, seemed perfectly accustomed to it. They began running at top speed across the enormous field atop a flattened mountaintop. The Archmage of the Holy Sword stood in the middle, brandishing his greatsword and shouting in a booming voice.

"Run faster! Don't let me catch anyone slacking off! The first rule of dealing with Demon Gods is that you'd better be strong enough to knock them flat with one punch! Run faster, you at the back! Pick up the pace!"

"You two new students, run! Kids younger than you are running faster! Move your legs, swing your arms—and you, Harley Quinzel, stop looking around! Quit howling! Run!"

Elementary schools in the United States did have physical education classes, of course, but they generally did not include anything as intense as running laps around a field. Most of the time, they did not even need to line up. They just queued up to get balls from the equipment room, then played basketball or soccer with their friends. Those who did not like sports could simply gather around and chat.

The intensity of Kamar-Taj Magic Academy's physical education class far exceeded their expectations.
