The wings vanished with a swish.
All three of them turned to look at Bruce's face.
"Hallucination."
The three of them narrowed their eyes in unison again.
Bruce walked out of the house as though nothing had happened and said, "Nice sunshine today. Probably a mirage."
"It's cloudy today."
"Mirages are more likely to appear on cloudy days."
"Where did you go?" Overlord Superman walked out of the living room as well and looked at Bruce.
"How did you get out?" Bruce changed the subject.
Wonder Woman sighed and said, "He chased me through the sky with Heat Vision. I was completely exhausted, so the Lasso of Truth retracted on its own."
"Sounds like Batman's idea."
"It was. He wore both of us out." Wonder Woman stepped forward again and saw Bruce sitting on the swing in the yard. She sat on the other swing and asked, "Have you found a solution?"
"I roughly understand the principle. I'm still thinking about the solution."
"What principle?" Overlord Superman still did not understand what Bruce had just gone off to do.
Only Batman's attention remained utterly fixed. He was still recalling the wings he had just seen behind Bruce.
They had been three pairs of enormous feathered wings composed of 140 pairs of smaller wings. Batman was certain he had counted correctly, and the description sounded very much like Gabriel from the Bible. Only Gabriel's wings were so distinctive and easy to identify.
