Bale-Batman was bandaging the wound on his arm. Removing the bullet had taken some effort, but fortunately, it had come out smoothly. The injured area, tightly wrapped in bandages, no longer hurt quite so badly.

He sighed inwardly but quickly climbed to his feet. Just as he prepared to leave, he caught the heavy scent of blood drifting from the central air-conditioning vent.

He strode out of the bathroom and followed the faint light toward the small reception room. But the moment he turned the corner, he saw a pair of dead fish eyes staring at him from midair in the corridor.

Even as Batman, he could not help pausing at the sight. Two seconds later, he finally made out that it was a corpse hanging upside down from the overhead ventilation duct.

The corpse had no arms. Blood had rushed into its head from hanging upside down, and its eyeballs were nearly falling from their sockets. Its lifeless eyes bulged grotesquely as blood ran backward from the corners of its mouth and eyes, making its face utterly horrifying.

Bale-Batman took a deep breath. He knew that under normal circumstances, anyone who turned a corner and saw such a face floating in the air would be scared out of their wits and run at once.

Precisely because of that, Bale-Batman forced himself to hold still. Instead of turning around, he slowly backed away to the end of the corridor and began edging sideways toward the stairwell.

But at that exact moment, two figures came upstairs. Before Bale-Batman could stop them, they had already seen the sight in the hallway.

"Aaaah!!!!!!!!"

A woman's shrill scream rang out. Bale-Batman reacted swiftly, yanking Amanda over before she could turn around and pressing her back against the wall at the end of the corridor,
