"Aunt May, I'm back!"
The door flew open, and Peter rushed in with his backpack on his back. Aunt May, who had been writing something at the table by the window, stood up and watched Peter dash into the kitchen and gulp down a huge glass of water.
"Oh, you're back." Aunt May walked over, took Peter's backpack, and said, "How's the work at the new lab? Going smoothly?"
"Not bad, just way too busy. I can't believe it—I'd barely set foot in the company before I was doing experiments nonstop for three days and nights. They didn't even leave me time to get familiar with the lab." Peter yawned.
"Go get some sleep." Aunt May said, "I'm writing up next month's community activities schedule. What kind of dessert do you think would be good? How about my muffins?"
"Of course they're good. Especially with some honey syrup..."
"Oh, boy, you still know me so well." Aunt May smiled, patting Peter on the back as she followed him to his bedroom door.
Peter poked his head out and glanced toward his uncle's room. "Where's Uncle? Is he not off work yet?"
"He's been working overtime a lot lately. You know, he was just promoted to Chief Engineer, so he has to prove himself. Besides, there's more work at the Shuttle Main Station than at the branch stations. A new batch of people came in recently, and he has to keep a close eye on them."
"I'll wait for him. There's something I want to talk to him about."
Aunt May said nothing. She turned back to continue writing her community event proposal, discussing it with Peter from time to time.
