The battle in Paris was proceeding fairly smoothly. The plan of avoiding their sharp edge suited the current situation perfectly. Although the combat-team Batmen were being chased all over the city and were completely unable to win head-on—running away was becoming quite difficult too—the capture team had already brought in several hundred personalities. Moira had suspended them above the machine's furnace.
White Armor dispatched drones from the aerial base to the machine's location to transport monitoring equipment. As more and more personalities gathered, the machine keenly detected brainwave fluctuations unlike any it had observed before.
This proved that the plan was likely effective. David's consciousness had not completely vanished; instead, it had hidden within every personality along with the separated energy. As long as enough personalities were gathered, it might be possible to awaken him. Everything was proceeding in an orderly fashion.
But things were not going nearly as smoothly for the Radiance Alliance. The filthy thing in the Time Stream was difficult to catch by conventional means, and after deducing that it might be the scheme of some hidden Black Hand, they did not dare act rashly.
They could have sought out stronger beings and made a deal with them to capture it. At the very least, Stark could contact Death Spider-Man, and he had previously visited the Temple of Eternity. If this thing was truly proven to be highly dangerous, asking those gods for help would have been perfectly normal.
But the problem was this: if this thing really was a spare embryo sent by some powerful being on the other side, then how did the embryo take root? Through contact? Or would it parasitize someone after being destroyed?
Since they had no idea who was on the other side or how powerful they were, it would be
