The night passed in silence. The next morning, they were awakened by the familiar sound of Christmas carols. The Shop windows across the street had officially switched to Christmas decorations, Christmas songs played one after another, and it had started snowing.

Still half-asleep, Spider-Man propped himself up, threw all the blankets onto Jason's side, sat on the floor for a while to wake up, and rubbed his shoulder, which had been painfully pressed against something.

He got up and walked to the window. The instant he pulled back the curtains, the room was flooded with pale, cold light. Outside was a vast expanse of white, and Spider-Man's pupils gleamed like sparkling diamonds against the snow.

He rushed out, stuffed a fried egg into his mouth, took the sandwich his aunt handed him, gulped down two huge mouthfuls of milk, slung on his backpack, and bolted out the door, leaving his aunt stamping her foot in the doorway.
