Before long, Schiller had put all the small items where they belonged. With Victor and Pamela's help, they wrapped things up, and the office was more or less tidied. They still had to inspect the classroom.
Victor parted ways with them there, as he was more eager to see the laboratory. He had made several calls just to get the lab opened ahead of schedule. Anna also seemed to want to take a look at the supercomputer on the new campus.
That was right. Back when Wayne Enterprises still had money to burn, it had placed a supercomputer directly at the school. It was not in the main teaching area, though, but in the comprehensive experimental zone beside the school, where most of the important equipment and high-risk laboratories were located.
Lex and Clark set out to carry out their joint plan to pluck the bald eagle's feathers and hurried away.
Pamela had originally been anxious to return and tend to her plants, but Schiller stopped her. She had no choice but to go inspect the classroom with him.
"Professor, I'm really in a hurry. Those two guard dogs are still wandering around outside. I don't know when they might rush into my lab. If the shelves collapse again, this deal will really fall through. Without that two-thousand-dollar commission, I definitely won't be able to pay the insurance."
Pamela kept chattering away, trying to escape Schiller, but he remained unhurried. He pulled a slip of paper from his pocket and said, "Do me a favor, and you won't have to pay me back."
"Really?!" Pamela's eyes immediately lit up. Looking at Schiller, she said, "What do you need? I guarantee I'll get it done!"
"Go ask some real estate agents whether there are any cheaper houses in the South Side.
