All the phantom corpses vanished after pausing for a while. The scene in the room began to change again, but this time it changed very slowly, as though retrieving this part of the memories took some effort.

The living room became a tiny bedroom, probably less than ten square meters. There was a narrow single bed, a desk beside it, several exercise books scattered across the desktop, and an enormous map of China hanging above the headboard.

The bedsheets had a common teddy bear pattern and had been washed somewhat pale. The bedside table had been made from a stool, and on it sat a photograph of a woman and three children. None of the children were very old, and the little boy standing at the very front was Schiller.

Schiller's gaze suddenly became focused. He remembered where this was and realized that, at this point, his consciousness had still been streaming with High Tower. The room must have accessed High Tower's memories.

This was the bedroom from when he had lived at the nurse's home.

For a time, Ninth Institute had been undergoing renovations. The work had originally been divided by area, and Schiller had been moved to another room. But his condition had only just begun improving, and the unfamiliar environment combined with the construction noise made his state deteriorate badly.

The Doctor and nurses noticed this, so they discussed it with the director and had the nurse assigned to him take him home.

However, it was a confidential institution, and the family housing was also within the compound, so it was not far from Ninth Institute. The nurse took Schiller back and forth between the family housing and the Doctor's office, letting him experience something like going to school on a regular schedule.
