Schiller leaped into the swimming pool.
The other three were stunned. They all rushed to the edge of the pool, and Cobblepot said awkwardly, "This... should we save him?"
"It's a trap, but there's no way he doesn't know that. Maybe he has some other plan. Pull him out before he dies," Jerome's twin brother said.
Schiller soon ran out of air. Jerome's twin brother timed it and hauled him out. Fortunately, the pool was shallow. Even if someone sank to the bottom, they could basically be pulled up in an instant.
Schiller clung to the poolside and coughed painfully. After a long while, he wiped his lips and said, "Fighting our way to the hotel's front entrance won't work."
He did not explain the specifics, but it was probably like the first ending. It seemed as though the hotel problem had been solved, but at most, they could touch the level of an avatar. If they could not affect Nyarlathotep, they could not solve the root problem.
For mortals, touching the true body of an Outer God was basically impossible. The Cthulhu Mythos system was vast and flourishing, with countless brilliant figures emerging from it, yet even among those excellent works, he had never heard of any investigator directly confronting an existence on Nyarlathotep's level. Coming back alive after encountering an Outer God already counted as legendary beyond legend.
Before Schiller had even caught his breath, he jumped in again. The three on shore had gone numb. Once more, they seized the gap after Schiller exhaled and pulled him back out.
"There's nothing between the two hotel buildings," Schiller said. "If you jump down, the wind strips you down to nothing but a skeleton."
That was clearly from an observer's perspective, but the three of them tacitly chose not
